Help getting loud humming noise on my h3

If you've already gotten to the point of tearing the transfer case apart, I assume you've already checked the simple stuff. If not though, check all the heat shields on the exhaust as well as the U Joints. I've had similar noises from both of those. Good luck!

And now they've shut down 1/3 of Moab trails

Not specific to Moab, but anytime I have ever been confronted by someone saying I was hurting the land, be that by offroading, hunting, or even hiking, I always make the argument that the fastest way to damage a piece of property is to get people to stop caring about it. When you stop allowing...

    Correct sway bar link installation

Yours (first pic) are mounted correctly, at least for OEM links. They mount on the backside of both the stabilizer and LCA.

    Flex your odometer

There is a huge asterisk on this. For the past 2 years, it's been a 4 cylinder. I lost compression on #3. That said, it does still run. It's just in limbo until I come across a solution that makes financial sense. I still drive it around the farm just to keep the truck as a whole from...

    H3 Transmission dead?

If there's any silver lining, at least now you have a definitive answer to the issues in your towing thread. Hope you get it back together soon.

    H3 I CANNOT Tow apparently

If you're talking about the guy hauling a skid steer, that had nothing to do with it being an H3. That had everything to do with improper loading.

    EV At Detroit Auto Show

I still don't see many EVs on the road around here, so I thought some of you might like to see some photos from the Detroit Auto Show. They had both the SUT and SUV open to get in and look over really well. They had an SUV at Woodward this year, but it was behind ropes. This was the first I...

    Rubicon 2023 Crazy edition

Looks like an epic trip! How did the stock Bronco do? If markups and availability ever get under control, a Bronco is still on my short list for a new car.

    New to doing this solo

I know this sounds a little simplistic, but have you checked to see if there is anything in the tire? I have had rocks stuck in the tread, and while they generally fling out pretty quick at highway speed, I've also had them stay lodged for a surprisingly long time. I even had a bolt puncture a...

    H3 brake controller wires

Glad you found them. Sorry, I was away from home and not able to reply sooner. Do you still need to know the colors to the Tekonsha harness? As I recall they are different so you can't just go red to red, black to black, etc.

What did you do with your H3 recently? NEW

Camping. Haven't had the opportunity to camp nearly as much as I would like this year. Also installed the Thor bumper and winch last week. Had not planned to, but it became a very fortuitous project. This evening while delivering some firewood to the campsite, I got my truck just a little...

Service 4WD, Stabilitrak, traction control messages

Have had that multiple times. Always failed hub bearing that ate up the ABS sensor. EDIT: Just realized that his is H2 thread. My post was in regards to H3, but may be the same. Good luck!

WTB: Front outer half shaft stubs

I have some spare shafts but really don't want to take them apart for the stubs. Anyone have a couple junk shafts you're willing to just sell the outer stub? Thanks in advance.

I see a brush guard in one of those pics. Any chance that's for sale?

    I got one for you.

Not directly related to 4Speeds original question, but if you don't know about this, Google it. Either that or make sure you don't put it in Park if you ever lose power. I made that mistake once. Thank goodness for YouTube helping me quickly figure it out while sitting alongside the road.
