You do not have to do that at all for a swap in a 2006. We swapped a 2011 6.0 and 2012 6l90 into our 2006 without running two pcms. Sorry someone gave you bad information its tough with the internet navigating something like a swap with so many different information sources. Check out some of...
I'm just trying to give advise based on years of experience going down this rabbit hole. If you do a search on the forum you can see how old the threads are from those of us that have been modifying this platform for a very long time trying to solve this very issue. The ring gear is not the...
The 8.25" is junk and also like to explode I wouldn't waste time on that especially with the work for building a custom lift kit to try and get low enough to clear the steering rack. I'd rather run a Alpha cast iron diff than the 8.25". I've spent enough time wheeling with half tons to know not...
Thats correct only happens at full compression. The bump stops are GM ones and only about two years old and less than 1000 miles on them. We are definitely not giving up but this is a tough one as its hard to guarantee that all buyers are going to have good bushings before installing diff...
The diff bushings are non-wearable and won't compress but the lower control arm bushings are stock with 140k miles on them so you might be right that might be it allowing arm to move up higher in the bushing
I remember him from the early days of lurking on colorado forums for 5 cyl tech. He used to sell a turbo manifold and injectors for the 5 cyl was really nice guy answering all my questions but we are talking a LONG time ago
Went to the Vermont Pilgrimage overland event and blew three cv shafts as they came in contact with the lower control arm cross piece. This has never happened in 6+ years so we are trying to figure out what changed on the truck to cause this. Other than that everything is working perfect no leaks
Chris it was Jamie. When I had my 06 5 speed I was going to do the swap and talked extensively with him about it but ended up selling truck to my friend. He has it figured out
Well my wife needed a new car finally. After many years of daily driving various H3/ H3T on 37s we decided to give the new EV a shot to see how the electric life goes. It isn't the fancy 3x model with offroad package but this will just be her daily driver for now. Will let you guys know how it goes
Bushings are now in stock but we are sorting out the freight currently. The company we were using for our S10 diffs is no longer shipping one off pieces freight
The only failures we have had over the years were the inner tripod style joint cracking the outer housing when fully extended. This removes the tripod and replaces with rzeppa joint like the outer cv and utilizes slip splines with ball bearings. Should be good improvement and they are cheap on...
Well it was finally a success! No leaks and the new HD plunging CVs fit. At full lock and full compression with the bump stop slammed all the way into the cup the inner rubber boot barely touches the control arm but it won't cause any issues. Our old cvs with the tripod joint and larger boot...
Well little delay as our HD driveshaft we did not grease the slip joint so it rusted solid totally our fault and was not able to be reinstalled when they put the dana 50 back in. We are officially back on the road and logging miles now.
