Wiring harness is shipped out and will be to 04Coly by friday. He needs 2-3 weeks to modify the harness.

I will be pulling the seats out of the envoy and put them in storage and sell them at a leisurely pace. I cant find a damn company who will buy the envoy, only places want it free because of no motor/trans. So I will pull all the things I can store and sell. Envoy should be picked up friday. Then Squeaky goes down to my buddy's place. Pull the motor take whats good off of it, intake, header, anything of value then scrap that motor and start fitting in the 5.3 swap over my new parts, like Alpha oil pan, motor mounts, etc. Slowly but surely...It sucks I cant work on this thing as much as I like but when squeaky gets there it will make me feel like we are making some progress.

Before you scrap it check out the fuel pump system on the envoy. As best as I can tell the 06 h3 is a return less system. May want to see how the envoy is plumbed before you let it go. I know space is at a premium, but I wouldn't junk either the carcass or your old motor until you have a runner in the driveway. Murphy says as soon as you let it go, you will need something else off of it that will take a week to track down otherwise.

I will try to hold on to it but it's at my buddy's place so I have to be respectful of that. With that said I am trying to take as much as I need and luckily the envoy is return less as well!

Thanks! I'm probably gonna send it out. I know I like to do my own work but I spoke with MaxPF a while back and he said a 4l60e is probably one of the tougher transmissions to learn on...we will see though

get ready to spend ~$2k. But it will be bulletproof just like GMC's.

any V8 H3s can get me some shots of the exhaust where it crosses over by the t case and the driver side where is comes down by the oil pan

Heres an update. I have not worked on much this weekend, my buddy is out of town and the motor is at his place. Hummer is being towed there tomorrow. The I5 is almost ready to be pulled out. I did pull the front shocks this weekend for a revalve I will leave the rebound alone for now but I will be adding a ton more compression. The valve stack should be here this week (they had noticeably less compression then my brothers JK shocks so I will be aggressive and take a decent leap in compression dampening.)

The harness is in the hands of 04coly (Jamie) and with the pictures of the trans outlets for the wiring I sent him and the him looking at the wiring harness the 07 trailblazer trans DOES have the input speed sensor we need so that will make it MUCH better then having to add a sensor or tracking down an alpha trans. Now I can swap some parts between the two have it rebuilt and the trans will be good to go.

Squeaky is down at my buddies place. Yesterday I helped him reassemble the H1 hes had for 5 months. It was an H1 from New Jersey that needed some love due to the road salt from the winters. The guy bought it off ebay and had it 2 weeks then the 6.5L died. He then put in a dmax, predator did the work. Then a few years later he met my buddy and did some cooling mods for him and some other small work then he put 40s on it. He came back wanting everything reconditioned due to the rust. He then disassembled the entire truck basically down to bare framerails sanded down the frame repainted it and sent out every bracket for powdercoat due to the customers request. Its crazy how the H1 has very little welded to the actually frame its all bolted on with BIG ASS BOLTS. lol So I helped him reassemble it. Hes got a business to run so I try to help him get the work done and not be a pest on getting squeaky in. He had a shop then moved from one town to another so he got rid of the shop he had and right now hes out of his garage but still super busy. He had about 7 cars but is down to 2. The H1 is being reassembled and the 240 hes working on is having some head work done. The head is almost back from the machine shop. Hes hoping by later this week they will both be gone then the attention will turn to squeaky!!! In the mean time I may head down there and continue some small tear down, maybe change the oil pan, little things or help him finish.

I also need to educate myself on the transmission and find out what parts I need/want for an upgraded 4l60e. I may need to contact MaxPF or the broken. I know they are familiar with transmissions

upgrade to 4L65e internals and you're golden. Specifically the hub and some of the planetary gears. I had a transmission guy do some machine work for me, and he showed me the bits that need to be changed in a 4L60e to make them stronger - it's really not that comprehensive of a list...

Just don't do the oil pan change like the "A$$" Monkey's on the Fast and Loud TV show. The oil pan is a structural member on LS engines and has a tolerance you have to pay attention to in regards to the back face of the engine. When you remove the oil pan you lose the "oil prime" on the engine so you have to pump oil through the galleys when you have everything back together. (I find it annoying that H3's don't have an oil pressure gauge.) Replace the O-ring on the oil sump tube. It doesn't matter on the mileage. If you take it apart don't take a chance on a failure. They don't necessarily seal the same when you take them apart and put them back together.

There is a plug on the driver's side of the block that you use to prime the oil galleys when the pan is removed. The manual states pumping two quarts through this connection. I drained the two quarts out of the pan before I was ready to start my engine. I turned the engine over before I connected the coil packs and made sure I had oil pressure at the gauge. Once I connected the coil packs my engine started immediately. That's the reward for all the work. There aren't any shortcuts. It's a lot of labor.

There was an episode for the Sonic Camaro where one of the knuckleheads used an air wrench on 6 & 8 MM fasteners on an LS3 oil pan. SNAP!

Freakin' idiots! I can't take that show serious any more....

In about an hour and a half. I got the driveshafts out dropped the t case out and disconnected the trans from the envoy 5.3 tomorrow I will go down pull the trans from the H3 and hoepfully drop it off for the rebuild/mixing and matching of the 2 trans

To be a bit more specific I ended up making sure this week **** got done. Normally on big projects like these I can make decent progress in a decent amount of time but this project is slower...I had no work Monday or Tuesday so in my free time from class I was sure to be working on it. Monday I had an hour and a half and during that time I made great progress by disconnecting the trans from the 5.3 disconnecting the driveshafts and removing the t case. I was shocked at how much was done in an hour and a half. Last time the t case I feel like it took all damn day. I would say building my own crossmember back during the SAS was primarily for longer control arms but I also kept in mind making it easier access for t case removal and that was the case. It's much roomier up there and dropping the t case was for sure a breeze. On Tuesday (yesterday) I was going to pull the trans. The starter was such a PITA to remove to get to the torque converter bolts we ended up just pulling the whole damn motor/trans together. It went flawlessly! It would have been a bitch if I had my old rancho ifs crossmembers in there but having all that gone nothing was a hang up and this was by far the easiest motor pull I had of the 3 motors I have recently done (the h3, the ranger and the envoy) then by the time we got that out we were about 4 hours in. Most of it was trying to get to the starter bolts until we pulled the whole motor.

Overall I was very pleased I had misc hours throughout time pulling it apart but adding it all together I probably had about 7-8 hours in pulling it all apart and if I was to do it again I think I can do it faster. We had to let the air out of the tires. To get squeaky low enough for the hoist.

Let it all out!!!

I also took off the Pan on the envoy trans. This is what I wanted....

And I have it!!! The ISS the input speed sensor.

I work the rest of the week and have school. My buddy got rid of his shop when he moved further away from it so he's been at his house working till he finds a new shop locally. He has 2 cars at his place left the H1 and a little 240. I helped him on the h1 today and now he's gonna try and knock those out so I feel like the speed make start to pick up! Monday's work I did on my own while he worked on the h1 and Tuesday was a combo of us both working on it.

He has to drop some other parts off tomorrow so I may meet him at the trans place in between work and school to speak with the trans guy on having them rebuilt and pieced together. After that it's time for the oil pan, swap motor mount swap, and exhaust manifold swap and try to shoehorn this bitch in its new home!

thanks Mark, Got a question for you. Any good transmission shops you recommend in your area? My buddy is in simi and I work in your area. I had another buddy go to west coast transmission and seemed to have luck with them.

they are in north hills, just looking for a good reputable place that knows what they are doing.

Did you call Anthony? I know Santa Ana is a little far, but he has worked on several H4O trucks over the years and takes good care of us.
