I'll let you know or else I'm gonna be buying an alpha fan or an LR fan if it works for you.

Seeing you have both an alpha and a 5cyl are they the same radiators?

Radiators on a 3.5/3.7L and Alpha are the same. Only different models I've seen were Manual Transmission model without the cooler or the automatic with the built in cooler. The clutch fan, and fan blade are different, but not the radiators.

Pulled apart squeaky a bit more....tomorrow morning I'm going to finish pulling the motor on the envoy and ship out the harness. Then it's time for squeakys original motor to be pulled

what kind of wiring are you going to do? are you sending it out and they'll make it plug and play?
There are two choices. Current performance or a guy who does custom work for colorados. Best way to put it is hes kinda like a 4speedfunk hes a dude in the garage with good ideas and intentions to help out fellow owners.

I chose him. There are differences between the colorado and the H3 when it comes to v8 swaps. Year of your H3/colorado year of the motor and trans your using, how much of the stock harness you are using, PCM/TCM setup...etc.

Current performance requires a lot of adaptions like swapping out the gas pedals and such. They have more restrictions on what you can use for reluctor wheels and so on. This guy 04colyzq8 can adapt your harness to work with all of it.

He has never done an H3 until recently, hes still working with the guy and I think hes on this forum. Hes doing the 6.0 swap...He said mine should be much easier. Hes using a later motor, had to add in things with the trans. I know they will get it all done and working correctly but some years are easier then others because GM went through electrical system changes and some vehicles started those changes years before others and vice versa. He said an 07 envoy and trans with the stock wiring harness, PCM, TCM should be easy compared to the 6.0 but there will still be challenges.

So you ask? Hows that difficult for you?!? Hes doing all the harness work...My answer is your right! Thank God I have him doing the harness work or else I would be ****ed and I am the first to admit it and not afraid to admit it but my job still involved.

First off talking with him and my friends, going down to engine shops and talking to the employees I already know a ton more then I did before hand. I have learned a lot about the motor and its internal workings, transmissions and sensors from talking with 04colyzq8 and Tom (the h3 with the 6.0 swap)

I (and tom) need to be the guinea pig on working through these issues, troubleshooting and adjusting things on our own the best we can to keep shipping an entire harness back and forth across the USA. I need to make the motor fit, do custom A/C lines or see if an OEM one will work, getting all the little bugs to work. Fuel lines, PS lines, heater hoses, figure out adding cooling to make it run efficiently, swap over transmission pieces to piece together a trans that will work with the wiring harness and still adapt and work with the H3. So my work is making all the things work and fit while the electrical is done by him. Hes a good dude and I think he did join on this forum also.

He needs 2-3 weeks for the harness work. During those 2-3 weeks I will have the trans parts swapped over and rebuilt the trans, set the motor in the hummer and start dealing with intake and all the lines I need to adapt over and all the little things, try and basically get it as close as I can to done so when I get the harness I can plug it in and hope it all works and then troubleshoot from there.

Trailblazing is hard work. Keep it up! Are you sending the transmissions to a shop? Rebuild kits are less than $400 for these and for less than $100 you can upgrade the 2-4 servo, add a hardened sun shell, upgrade the forward sprag and upgrade the 3-4 clutch stack to 7 clutches instead of 6.

Thanks! I'm probably gonna send it out. I know I like to do my own work but I spoke with MaxPF a while back and he said a 4l60e is probably one of the tougher transmissions to learn on...we will see though

I'd send it out, too. tackling wiring on your own is so complicated, but GM systems are so well known might you well let someone else do it.

Thanks! Plan to ship out the harness tomorrow. Gotta get squeaky down there and pull the 5cyl and start transferring my new parts to the v8...motor mounts exhaust manifold and alpha oil pan

I've got to say this; I'm looking at that engine hanging on the hoist with no intake manifold and all the harness coiled up in the lifter valley and I'm thinking you're just asking for trouble. Some little part will so easily slip in to the cathedral intake port that you never noticed and kill that engine the first time you try to start it up. These LS engines are so UN-like the old cast-iron GM engine blocks it's not funny. I've known too many guys that regretted not stuffing a rag in the top of a manifold when they removed a carb and lost a nut, washer, screw, whatever and had to tear down the top end of an engine to chase some stupid little morsel. Don't let it be you!

Do yourself another favor too. Go spend a dollar on a hard bound notebook and keep your notes, research, conversations, part numbers all in one place. Will come in handy down the line when you are trying to remember what you did or where you got an oddball part to make something work. That and keep every single receipt in a folder for future reference .

Exactly! You know what you're talking about.

When I was working on my LS6 I wrote down all the torque values and procedures in a notebook and checked them off when they were completed. Any doubts and I can go back and verify my work.

Chris also I was reading about oil loss in the 5.3. I was reading that a lot of people say to run no air filter, and add a 1/2cup of sand into the intake manifold then also add 1/2cup into the oil pan and you will never ever burn oil again. I'm gunna try it when I get home with my truck! Fingers crossed!
