E fan conversion

I'm thinking about swapping out the mechanical fan in the ol T out for an E fan, mainly because the fan clutch is dead, and those seem to cost a quarter to a third of how much an E fan swap would cost, so I figure why not?
But now for the question, what would be a good one to go with? I'm considering the one PCM of NC sells, but was curious on y'alls thoughts, opinions, etc

I have the PCM of NC electric fan kit, and in my experience is terrible for offroad driving and I will be getting rid of mine soon. It always works well on the street, but it sends your water temp to 3/4 when you are climbing hills offroad. It got so bad one time that my truck completely overheated and shut off and I needed to wait for it too cool before I could move again. Also, I have the fan manually wired so I manually turn the fan on and off with a switch inside the H3, so it is not relying on a temp sensor to turn on and off.

Try the new colorado fans. If the radiator is the same size and inlet/outlet are in the right plqce it should be easy to fit. The 09 pcm should run it with programming and its superior to the pcmofnc fan.

If your original stuff was working, lol why mess with a good thing? As you stated it cost about 1/3 off a e-fan conversion and it just plain works. MHO
Swap in a new clutch .
But hey it's your junk so .....

Another alternative for an efan setup would be the Supermodulation kit. I think he offers two different versions for the I5 and V8. I run the SuperModulation dual V8 fan setup on my Alpha T and no overheating issues so far, even when towing my car to and from the track, almost 2 hours each way. But I am running an aftermarket radiator that is 2 times bigger than the stock radiator, so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

Interesting...
Even with the clutch gone, I don't think I've gone over about 230 °F, and that was when it was over 100 degrees outside. Albeit I am running a thermostat that opens much sooner, and a manual transmission radiator, so maybe I'd be fine?

I'd prefer to use something that that's known to work, tried and tested etc, at least for now while it's my main vehicle.

I saw that, how much do those cost?

I've been using the H3 mod kit from FF Dynamics for several months and everything is going well. I ordered an amazon aluminum radiator to go with it
Wasn't a bad job to say the least, and here in Phoenix where my temp gauge was always at 3/4 or a little more it runs around 1/2 in 116 degree heat. I took Alrocks advice and used the add a fuse to wire
the ignition source and AC clutch positive in. Temp control unit works well and so far I have no complaints :) IMG_20200721_213924.jpg
