Sennin, if you downgrade it may help. You should check with your local dealer to make sure you have the latest GM flash on your PCM as well. If it hasn't been updated since 08 that might be some of the trouble as well.

Sorry I have not yet called SC on your behalf. Did you join their web forum? They are great at helping folks on there (me included)!

Hi Hans3T,

Well my Hummer was manufactured mid 2009, so I would assume the software on the PCM would be post 2008. but will have it updated just in case with my next service.

I have joined their web forum, but its now going on two months and my account hasn't been activated yet, its really frustrating this side.

Ok after a 30minute telephonic discussion with Ron at Superchips (telephone call that is costing me more than the tuner cost me, prpably shouldnt have used my cell :shame:) he informed me that my VIN number starting with ADMEN wont be supported by the software as its a South African VIN...

So anybody want to make me an offer on my Flashpaq as its now the most expensive paper weight I own

Will have GM correct the speedo with the 35" tyres, and then do the exhaust and Snorkel for some improved performance, real bummer

You might as well start selling it online . I'm actually wondering what alternative solution will be possible for the South African built V8 as I dont want to go the aftermarket route where a piggy back chipset has to be used, and wire splicing is involved.

I tried to have Tustin Hummer correct my speedometer for 35" tires but they said my PCM couldn't be reprogrammed for that. Good luck with yours.

I don't have the V8 but I have SAF Built H3 with I5 3.7. My VIN is ADMDN (built 2008). I have been using the Jet Chips Stage 2 Piggy Back with no problems. I just ordered the Hypertech so I could change the tyre diameter, hoping it is going to work now.

HP tuners.
It works you have more adjustability. You can read up and do more then a speedometers correction. I will help with the easy stuff actually tunning I need logs to help. But it comes with logging software that is a full scanner.

I sent an email to Hypertech asking them to confirm about the VIN Issue............ The Hypertech website says the key difference to look for in the VIN is the 8th Character (on mine it is an "E")

My Hypertech arrived today and it did not work.

It gets to the first screen & says this programmer is not for this vehicle.

Sent an email off to Hypertech to let them know about the VIN problem.

Hopefully they have a patch to fix this as the Hypertech programmer is updateable on the Internet & PC.

Is there a Hypertech tune for the H3 Alpha at all!?

Martin........ I checked their website and it doesn't specifically mention the Alpha. You could email them though to see if they can do yours like mine. Germany is Left Hand Drive, check your VIN because if your vehicle was built in the USA then you should be able to use the superchips one (our problem is because we have Right Hand Drive Hummers built in South Africa)

Excellent, I'm getting all excited

I was too....... they sent me an email saying my calibration was available on the Internet.

I connected and it updated fine, but when I plugged it in to the H3 it went back to the VIN problem "This device is not for this vehicle".

Anyhow I emailed them back to let them know for them to fix the code.

Getting closer !!!!

Hi!

I already contacted them using their online-form several days ago - no reply yet! My "Alpha" (they are not named "Alpha" in Germany) was also build in South Africa. And I already purchased an used Superchips Flashpaq from ebay.com which is waiting for me in Florida (gonna be there in less than three weeks!). Propably it's not gonna work with my H3... :(
I'll keep you informed.

Greetings
Martin

Sennin has tried.......... The Superchips will not work with the SA Built V8 H3.

I have good comms now with Hypertech as I work with the Tech Support & Engineers on getting my H3 working. Once we get it going I will ask them about the SA V8 & let you know here.

Okay, now it's official - on european Alphas the flashpaq is also not working. I really don't know, what is wrong with that company, but they are nor able to confirm my registration to their forum and they don't answer ANY question - even personally sent to Ron!

Only way is to phone directly, and during business hours. Cost me a bundle for the call, but at least Icould confirm I bought a expensive paper weight

Masterkey / Sennin,

I'm really sorry to hear that. They've always been very helpful for me.

Perhaps the lack of support outside of North America is a dirty little secret they keep to themselves?:sigh::no:

Ive been trying to contact them too, but also without any success. No replies at all! Ive looked around for tuners for the SA model, there is the DIABLO tuner, but they dont give a straight answer to whether it would work or not, just say "they dont see a reason why it wouldnt".

I might of missed the answer but got a trip to Austin and want to use the gas saver selection. Do I have to use 83 octane or can I still use 93? Will I still see better mileage using 93?

I realize this is a really old post, but for people reading now, we offer support and tuning for H3's worldwide, even if you do have a funny VIN. :) We use HPtuners here, which is a very in depth program that allows us to make many changes for a comprehensive tune that is set up specifically for your needs, not something generic just adding a bit of fuel here and timing there. We are able to pick up a good amount of power, and we really do a lot with the transmission tuning as well (auto) to make the most of the H3...we change around shift points, shift firmness, and scale back the fun sucking torque management a bit also. You don't have to have HPT to have a tune from us, we have several programs available that allow you to send in your PCM, or have us send one to you, etc.

I have shipped many of these overseas, our biggest overseas market is probably South Africa, you guys really love H3's don't you!
