Silverstar ULTRA finally availble for the H3

Well, maybe this is old news for some of you but it is news to me. They finally have the H13/9008 headlamp bulb in the Ultra. Two years ago it was only available in the regular Silverstar. The regular Silverstars have been good for me though they only last two years. I have one of the Ultras (store only had one in stock and I only had one burnt out bulb) so I'm interested to give them a try and see if there is any difference. I probably won't notice but my wallet might feel a bit better as it is now $26 lighter.

They last about 2 years? Do you leave the DRL on all the time or do you turn them off during the day? I'm wondering if I could get a little more time out of them if I didn't run them during the day?

I think I'm gonna upgrade my headlights and fog lights to 4300k HID's. I've been toying with the idea for about a month now, just haven't pulled the trigger.

Is there a claimed difference between the two according to the manufacturer?

I'd love to upgrade to something above OEM quality without going the HID route (yet).

I've had the Silver Stars on my H1 for about 6-7 years now. I didn't know they made an Ultra Silver Star. Are they brighter or whiter light? I guess they last longer if you can only turn them on when you need them.

I've got the SilverStar Ultras in the H2 and standard SilverStars in the H3... I haven't compared them directly but I've never noticed a difference in them, other than the extra $12

That's probably because the Silverstars are a 4000K light and the Ultras are a 4100K light. A standard halogen is 3100k. Not really much of a difference between the two silverstars.

I think I'm gonna upgrade my headlights and fog lights to 4300k HID's. I've been toying with the idea for about a month now, just haven't pulled the trigger.

Whenever you do, be sure to share the results. I've got so/so night vision and I've been really underwhelmed (along with others, I know) with the light from our H3/Ts. I'd love to go HID, but cost/potential for melting stuff has been a turn-off.

I'm running basic SilverStars in the T now for both the headlights and fogs and that combo gets me by for now.

You can go full SilverStar and replace every light on the truck.

Upon hearing this I stopped by an Advanced Auto and they had one more grade above the ultra that said it was the whitest legal light. They were both $47 here for a pair because the Ultra was on sale from a regular $59!!.
It mentioned something about hid look. Of course I forgot the name before I got out the door!
I have to look it up but I think it was like a XSST but I looked that up and it did not look like the same package.

The guy did tell me you get 20% off on anything online but I don't know if that would be a trade off between sales tax and shipping.

Yeah they had that display for the reading challenged like me. Ha ha I gotta back and look now. I was looking for wiper blades and they had a new style rainx but not for the H3! I had forgot they were two different sizes and it did not come in 17 inch. I'm on a mission.............

Well, then try Amazon. You can get a pair of them for $36 I think which is about $16 below what it was at Auto Zone.

I hate how their website works...it asks you what vehicle drive and only shows you parts for that vehicle. It's only showing me Silverstars...not ultras. Can you post a link?

Well this next step up as they show on the chart must mostly be the slight whiter color. Somehow to achieve that they died them blue?? I don't think I want that if they shine that funky blue.
But you get the "look and feel" of HID, I don't think you are supposed to touch them?
annnd the best is they are for the performance driver! whoo hoo some marketing guy is bucking for a raise.
It also appears these on low beam are 45W while I think the Ultra are 55w? not sure on that until I look or Alrock has his package. ha ha
This is the 2004 but right next to it is the place for the 2005. Just thought it was interesting.

I put the zxe's in my wife's car and they dont compare to actual HIDs but they are bright

I have the regular silverstars for my headlights and fog lights. They definitely made an improvement over the oem lights. I also got the silverstar replacement backup light bulbs and didn't really notice a difference with those. Looking to put some auxillary lights back there attached to a special project.
