Radiator might be cracked?

So I checked my fluid levels today. Bone dry. I thought it was odd. So then I filled it. Drove home. And just got done driving and saw steam coming off the radiator. It was wet but cold and smelled like antifreeze. It was kinda splattered from the top near the grille in a fanning out fashion to the bottom.

It sounds like you have the H3/Colorado cracked radiator . Did you make it to at least 60k ? Check the front of the radiator just above the core support . Most H3/Colorado radiators crack there . After you replace it , put something ( like a split piece of rubber hose ) between the metal lip of the core support and the radiator .

Just did this last night. Randomly cracked on my way to work two days ago. Ordered the part, came in the next morning, took about 2 hours after flushing the system 3 times and converting to green coolant.

Rock Auto was far and away the best price when I ordered mine. Don't know if that's still the case, but might check there.

Mine cracked the same place almost exactly at 100k miles. I think I got my Silla from Amazon, wasn't pricey and the shipping was free. Be sure to tighten the trans cooler connects on the new radiator they come loose from the factory.
I also ran som hose I cut along that edge on the body to hopefully prevent the radiator from smaking that lip in the future, or I guess when it does it won't crack that really strong plastic they use.
The replacement thread Alex put on here is money. Pretty straight forward diy. About 1.5-2 hours, I have an efan too so tons of room to work.

Same thing happened last summer. Big azz crack at the same spot. Approx. 60K miles. A few hours and all was done. Took the time to put in a stand alone trans cooler at the same time.Chris

I got lucky when mine cracked , the radiator repair shop by my house had the top in stock . They told me this happens all the of time with GM radiators and they keep the tops in stock . I dropped off my radiator and about 2 hrs and $60.00 later I was putting it back in . I remember back in the when car parts were made of metal and not crapy plastic .
