Jeep Refresh 2012

Like many on here, I really love my Hummer but am torn between daily driving and wanting a daily driver. I do have the Jeep, but it just never compared to driving the Hummer. Well, not until today anyways

I have had my '09 Jeep for a few years, and although it has very low miles, I've heard a lot of nice things about the 2012 models (pentastar engine, freedom top, etc). So yesterday I took off in the Jeep and ended up coming home with an even newer Jeep. I chose a Sahara edition because I wanted the upscale interior and features (upgraded stereo, bluetooth, etc) and wanted a little more luxury, which in my opinion Jeep delivered. Not to mention, this is the most comfortable Jeep I have ever had the pleasure to sit in and drive in my lifetime. I really liked the new for 2012 color called "Dozer", a sort of half orange, half yellow. Anyways here's a few pics after the first 20 miles Say hello to my little friend, I mean daily driver! It would be nicer if it were a 2012 Hummer but we all know that isn't going to happen anytime soon

Congrats! The new motor is just what was missing in the JKs. Unfortunately the ECM is encrypted and you can't tune or adjust anything on it if you need to. For example, you can't change the diff ratios or the vehicle goes into limp mode. Shame because they really seemed like they were going down the right path with the new motor.

I thought the Jeep needed a new motor and an upgraded interior. I think they went a long way toward addressing the model's shortcomings. They do have some really bright colors this year. Haven't driven one so don't know if I would like to be in one everyday but at least they are still around and improving the brand whereas GM is still around but who cares.

This will be my 3rd Jeep and each iteration keeps getting better than the last. Jeep does more for it's brand in a year than GM does for it's entire portfolio. But the Hummer buying experience was still on a whole diferent dimension, even when considering that this is my 2nd Jeep bought new.

You know when I was at the dealer I had a chance to sit in a Jeep Patriot and the first thought that came to my mind was "Wow they made this look and feel like an H3 inside", right down to the seats. I bet I could unbolt the seats from my 3T and they would fit in the patriot. It seemed clear that they made that model to tempt away someone with a few year old H3 that wanted something similar but newer. The interesting thing is they had a 2007 H2, really nicely equipped, that was traded in for a Rubicon. So the defection from the ranks is out there. There's no new Hummers to buy.

I didn't buy this vehicle to mod though. I might give it a nice tire and rim upgrade, but not much. It's not a rock crawler, it's a driver car and to be really honest, the first one I think i could comfortably drive every day. It also means that I now have an H3T that I can mod, and after seeing some of the nice modded 3T's out there, I am getting ideas of what things I would like to do now So it's all good, Jeep keeps a customer, GM loses one forever, but the system is still in balance

I wonder if GM has studied their mistakes and how much this whole debacle has cost them? I am sure that they didn't change anything because of what they might have learned if they did. GM has lost me forever as a customer and I don't know how many others I have talked to that feel the same way. Jeep/Chrysler is listening to their customers and evolving the brand to suit their customers...just what any success minded company would do. No wonder GM went broke.

I've said this a million times but I will never buy from GM. I am not in the new car market but when i am looking to get a daily driver it won't be from GM. I agree jeep is getting better and better since they do listen. GM doesn't give a ****...it pisses me off

No worries on the gearing any longer. AEV ProCal takes care of that. We have done a ton of JK gear swaps on the 2012's. My favorite was 488's on 37's for all around driving. I have the standard 410's and the 35's are not really noticed. The AEV lift has made my rig a pleasant daily driver overall. Not H2 comfort though, that's for sure. lol.

Its nice some of our Hummer lovers has found some relief in the new jeeps, I looked at the different models before I made my last Hummer purchase, and I was just not feeling the Jeep thing.. I guess its not my thing.. Of course, that dont leave a fella with much choice other than a Raptor.. I did really like the look of the Wrangler X but just did not feel right..
