What is gas by you? The highest I saw was $4.47 at a chevron for premium...

This is ridiculous! The gov't doesnt care about us...they care about the oil companies

Oil is a Fungible commodity, so its up to the free market to determine prices. The government can't do much aside from tapping into the reserve and that's only a short term solution.

I've been paying over 4 bucks a gallon for months now for Diesel and at this point the prices have gone up relatively little in relation to gas. I'm sure that'll change. If a camel farts over near the strait of hormuz we will see $5/gallon this summer.

I don't want this to get too political but... Do you think this is from Iran cutting off oil shipments to Britain?

Britain and France stopped buying Iranian oil a long time ago, Iran announcing they wont sell to them is just symbolic

...and regular gas around here is $4

Politics has quite a bit to do with fuel prices. Policies set fuel refining standards and that directly affects supply since refineries can only produce so much, and there are only so many refineries. Politics also affects taxes, which raises the price per gallon. Politics also affect where the oil comes from. If we stick with the policy of buying from our enemies, and refusing to drill our own resources, prices will continue to climb in the future. One final effect is inflation. The more that the Federal Reserve prints and pours into our money supply, the less our existing dollars buy and the higher prices will go. If you want a comparison, go to the grocery store and compare prices from a year ago.

87 octane gas here in the Eastern Panhandle of WV is $3.89 -- it's obsurd that gas here is so expensive when there are counties where you can get power for $0.07 per kw hour.

Government doesn't have to "allow" anything. When prices start nearing $5/gal, people stop driving. Buggers the economy and prices inch back down.

Hey 06.. It probably jumped back up there too.. For the last 2 weeks in Lansing Michigan I had been paying 3.14-3.18 a gallon. 4 days ago it jumped to 3.39, now today it jumped to 3.69/3.89....And I agree.. It will go up so high, then more people will start car pooling, using alternate transit like buses and quite driving and going on trips, then demand will start dropping and the prices will drop.. Same ole story, different day.

$3.89/Gal for diesel here in the great state of Texas. Yesterday it was $3.69.
I do believe it's our "great" (sarcastic) leader and his not allowing the pipeline deal to happen. If it did happen, I'll bet the price would drop dramatically!

That pipeline deal is gonna bite us in the ass.......big time.

It would have STILL been foreign oil.....but at least it was from a country who does not want to kill us.
