This is to install the front dome light.
Tools needed:
Step 1:
Remove the center dome light, unplug and set aside.
Step 2:
Take your piece of cardboard and punch a hole in the center using the small screwdriver.
Step 3:
Thread the string through the cardboard hole you just made and tie enough knots to keep it from coming back through.
Step 4:
Slide the cardboard into the factory hole in where the center dome light was and center over the hole.
Step 5:
Pull down slightly on the string to keep the cardboard from moving. Trace the outline of the hole on the cardboard using the pencil.
Step 6:
Remove the cardboard and cut out the shape using scissor.
Step 7:
You can use a measuring tape but I just eyeballed it! Center your template just behind the sunroof switch (if you have a sunroof). Use the pencil to trace out the shape on the headliner.
Step 8:
Drink some beer.....:beer
Step 9:
Use the X-acto knife and SLOWLY cut the headliner. I used the tip first and cut the fabric first then slid the knife in further and cut the foam backing. :hack:
Step 10:
Remove the piece of headliner.
Step 11:
I used 16 gauge wire and ran three wires from the center dome light (I tapped them using t-connectors).
Step 12:
Use the PT256 female connector and connect the three wires you just ran to the connector.
Step 13:
Drink more beer... :beer
Step 14:
Install dome light in your freshly cut hole. The part comes with 3 bulbs (578) installed but you can use LEDs to make the inside BRIGHT!!
Note: I cut the cardboard just a little smaller than the center dome hole because I wanted it to really fit snuggly in there. You don't have to but that was my preference.
