So go with the 35s. Better to try and succeed or fail than to wonder why you never asked the cute girl to the prom.

You can always sell the tires if they don't work out for you.

I have 33s and have t run into any big clearance issues. I also have the front torsion lift and I did an add a leaf in the rear. Plenty of clearance for what u say u use it's for and u keep quite a bit of money in ur pocket. Y not spending on the 35s. I went from the stock 285 to 33x12.5. I have not once wished I had gotten the 35s even though they would make it look a lot tougher.

Will a PCM tune "fix" or at least noticeably improve drivability (MPG, constant downshifting)? This conversation is playing games with my heart. I want 35's for purely emotional reasons (to quote Flash), but I know 33's would suffice for my offroad needs.

I held back for 4 years from going to 35" and never had any problems offroad (thanks to the UCP) but now having moved from the 32" to 35" it feels far more capable offroad and hardly noticeable decrease in driveability on road (I have the Adventure so maybe the gearing is helping). If I had my time again I would have gone to 35" from the start.
