H3 Don't Shoot, Another Trim Level Question

I have searched through two different forums and googled but it seems like most of the info is older, not all the way clear, or the people that posted it aren't around much anymore.

But I was curious what is the actual trim levels and differences between the years? I know the big things like alpha being the v8, luxury being leather and heated seats, etc. Adventure package being rear locker and 4:1 transfer case, and of course 09/10 being front and rear locker.

But is it just

Base
X
Luxury

and then the adventure or alpha is an actual package you could have added to those three trim levels? Are are these options for all years or different year groupings, etc?

are the three trim levels base had the 3 to 1 with no locker adventure had rear locker and 4 to 1 those would later get a front locker in the alpha only i believe. the lux had heated power seats with leather and blingy mirrors and door handles... anyone feel free to add to this or make corrections it's been a long time since i bought mine. 9 years this july :thumbs:

Think that sounds right. I want rear locker and 4:1 TC and I think that would make it an adventure or close anyway...

you can also have base with the lux trim package or adv. with lux. not all lux are automatically an adventure. are the alphas the same way ? can you get a non adventure alpha? just wondering any alpha aficionados out there ?

A few observations about H3 trim levels and the used Hummer market:

1. I've never seen an H3X with the Adv. Pak. Not sure why...just an observation. By default the "X" is a Super-Lux Pak....and then some!
2. Ironically, I've only seen one "Tactical Edition" that was an Adv. Pak.
3. I have seen several Champ Editions without rock rails or UCPs...noted in the GM literature as being part of it.
4. It seems "chrome" is a separate package from "lux". Leather and chrome are separate packages, and appear with or without each other.
5. I have also seen leather seats without heaters.
6. "Off Road Pak" and "Adv. Pak" are the same thing...terminology was changed on the V8 models just to confuse everybody.

To those of us that work on them daily...its pretty obvious what is what. But most people advertising them (dealers and individuals) have no clue what they got. If you are shopping around...ignore people touting "lockers" and "Adv. Pak", until you see it yourself. Here's a perfect example...

Not only is this guy asking $10K too much but, he actually states it has the rear locker. In reality it is NOT an Adventure Pak, and does NOT have the locker option. Seems if the guy owned three of them...he would know better. This is the norm, and you can expect to find Adv. Pak models with no mention whatsoever...and ones like this that say it's off-road equipped, when it isn't. Basically...look for the locker button. Its the only way to truly tell what you got. I'm not snobbin base-models...all H3's are capable off-roaders. But just be aware that not all H3s are created equal, and most owners just assume they got all the off-road bells & whistles. Sadly...its part of the Hummer culture.

Actually, if you get the Luxury package you can get an Off-Road Package not an adventure package on any H3 (I had a 06 with that option, and my 08 clearly states Luxury package and Off-road Package and they were both 5-cylinders.)

It can definitely get confusing as it seems like a cluster f of different packages and names being thrown around with a lot of different variations. The only X I have ever actually seen in person is ironically one of my friends here local but he isn't well versed in all the terminology or forums.

No. That's my point. They're not part of the Offroad (adv) Pak. They are separate add-ons and must be ordered & paid for separately (apparently even on the Champ Edition).

Here's a copy of the invoice from our CE. The UCP was part of the original CE package (not the Offroad (adv.) package) - the sliders were not. They were separate add-ons.

(Yes, chrome is but leather is part of the luxury package and if my old memory serves me, I do not believe you could order leather separately. But who knows for sure. Marketing made flying changes to ordering to help support more sales.)

The attached copy of my 3.7L 08 H3, shows the Luxury Package and the Off-road Suspension package. From what I can remember, the Adventure package was a package added to a base model and then some called it an Adventure series. Whereas, if you ordered a Luxury package, and you wanted the larger tires/4:1 tcase/locker(s)/tuned shocks you ordered an off-road susp package, not an adventure package.)
