Detroit Truetrac Locker Front

I wanted to settle a little issue we have been discussing lately. The Detroit Truetrac does NOT work in the front of the H3 without giving multiple errors. It took all of 5 min of driving after install to make my dash light up like Christmas... After removal it went back to driving like normal without dash lights.

He is trying to call BS on me but if you don't believe me then install one and prove me wrong. You can spend the same $600 to find out.

IT FITS?!?!?
What is the model number? Where did you buy it??? Share pictures! I want to know all about this!
Does this mean that all GM 28 spline, 7.5/7.625 rear technically fit and bolt right in, but something about the TC system is upset?

Edit: And what gear ratio are you running? Stock? Higher?

Seriously though, what was the model number and where did you buy it from?
Did you need to buy different bearings to help it fit, or did it simply bolt right up?
I think a few of us would be willing to live through annoying dashboard lights to try out that sweet-sweet trutrac action up front.

You selling the unit or returning it?

PICTURES?!?!?

My friends shop installed it. I do not know well enough how to setup a locker and gears properly. With him doing the work I do not have pictures of him installing it. I only have the one of the dash lights from him asking if I want it taken back out. I let him hang on to the Truetrac and I got a big discount on the one I wanted for the 14 bolt.

That is pretty great to hear. It means that Chevy s10s and Astro vans and stuff can use the ARB air locker as well.

I can't imagine why your traction system was upset, did you get a chance to drive it though?

I really think that this will be a summer project for me. As much as I want to just get one right now, I'll probably pace out my purchases for now. You know, pretend I still have self control.
A winch, Schwarttzy hidden winch bumper, extended shackles, and high clearance shackle leaf spring are ahead of that in line.

Speaking of, Schwarttzy, haven't you also been looking into a torsen front diff? What have you found so far?

Time for a follow-up. I finally got around to installing the truetrac in the front of the DD alpha. After all of my research into the truetrac and reading discussions of its install in the front of other modern AWD platforms, the post above saying it did not work did not sit right with me. I can 100% confirm there is no dashlights or any of the other B.S that was mentioned.

I will agree with atvspeed. I had a Detroit locker up front for a small amount of time. The Detroit is a full time locker and not recommended up front. The truetrac would be better. Regardless, I did it and had ZERO ISSUES with the ABS. ATV said the same about a truetrac.

I don’t believe Great Dane and assume it was some other issue he had. I’m not even sure if he’s still around, he usually shows up to talk about putting 50k dollar axles in his H3, then crawls back under the rock he came from. Then shows up again and spews off inaccurate info.

Lol exactly!

I'm hoping we can all keep progressing this platform and keep finding cool new mods and sharing the accurate info so it can be referenced by others.

So if I wanted to throw this locker into the front end of a 2006 H3 I would need the 912A317 locker and an iron axle housing. Would all of the other parts from the 06 aluminum housing swap over to the Iron housing? Has anyone integrated a front locker into the stock rear locker switch circuitry using the stock front / rear locker center bezel from a 09 - 10 H3?

I've been flirting with either installing a cast iron front axle and locker or swapping to a solid front.
