Coolers - HMMWV NATO Cooler

So, I noticed that there wasn't a ice cooler thread in Paladine71's emergency preparedness section of the forum. So, I figured I'd get the discussion going. What cooler or fridge options do members use/have on their rigs. I know the Yeti coolers are first-rate (anyone use one?).

I had been asking (no, begging) my friend Dwayne at Preferred Chassis Fabrication to get me a cooler like the ones he specs on the Scorpion - it's a Swiss made NATO HMMWV insulated cooler (13 liter with 2 inside stackable covered containers) with a locktite, leakproof lid and folding carry handle, made out of a rubber/fiberglass exterior so it won't ever rust. The interior is fully lined and insulated and keeps ice and items cold for days. It measures approximately 17" tall x 14" wide x 7" deep (about the same size of a jerry can). I have to say, this is a very cool, practical, space-saving cooler for a couple days on the trail. I also have to say, out of my cooler "collection", this one's my favorite!

That does look like an awesome and handy cooler. Other than that, we have an 82 quart ARB refrigerater, and it is probably one of the best investments we have made. Use it in almost all of the vehicles, and when your camping, its just very handy to have around.

Have a source where to get them?

Yes for you my friend, of course. I will shoot you a PM.

I will see how many I can get & offer them to members here who want them.

I also forgot to mention that these fit on/in a standard size jerry can mount.

That NATO cooler is too cool! I use a ARB 50 quart and I've got a couple of Yeti's. I've got a deep cycle battery that I use to run the ARB Fridge/Freezer for 3 days without recharging.

I hear good things about yeti but I want an arb fridge...they are expensive though

They are totally worth it! Same with the Yeti, they are pricey but really worth it. I have personally tested that the Yeti is truly a 5-day cooler.

I've seen the Yetis' & other high dollar coolers at work & that they do but are expensive. only thing I've seen better are the homemade ones the small time commercial firsherman make out of plywood, fiberglass & what ever insulation they scrounge up, they will hold ice for 2 weeks

I use an old plastic Gott 30. Holds 18 longneck Coors Light and with ice will stay cold for 2 days. I like the size most of all. It just seems to fit every where. Boat, back of the truck, rear seat of the Road King. Great size. Washes easily. 2 side handles that strap down during offroading. Hinged lid and has a water drain plug. My favorite.
