Or am I the crazy one?? An old Jeep friend of mine (who never respected tread lightly or any laws for that matter) and he's the reason I resigned as Co Organizer to one of Houston's largest Jeep Club's. Well now he has a 9 year old daughter and he's posting video's of her driving his company truck alone up and down a crowded and busy neighborhood street, but today he takes the cake. He shot a video of her driving his Escalade and 35ft Travel Trailer completely by herself on a public road!!!!!

I'm all for teaching kids stuff, and I have no problem with teaching a 9 year old how to drive on private property or an abandoned parking lot, but I would never let my daughter drive alone at 9 years old on a public street or pulling a trailer. I replied to his video post that what he was doing was extremely dangerous and careless. All the other replies said how awesome it was.... I guess people are blind to the big picture or something, but first off he's not only endangering his child, but he's also endangering anyone sharing the same road as he is.. She's basically 8 inches away from the airbag so in the event of an accident she'd be critically injured to the chest or face, then of coarse you'd have the other innocent people she'd possibly hurt or kill. He'd face serious jail time, his insurance isn't going to cover any of his property, and he'd also have to deal with the possible loss of his loved ones or live with the fact that his ignorant actions killed other innocent people.

I just wanna know what ya'll think about this?? Am I the crazy one here?

Yep he's crazy, but when I saw the video's with his daughter driving at 9 years old at first I was like oh that's cool, but when he posted the one with her doing burn outs in his mustang on a city street, driving alone up and down a crowded neighborhood, and finally the SUV pulling a 35ft camper I blew a gasket thinking what would happen if someone like hit me, my family, or loved ones???? I mean of coarse you can sue them, but it's hard to do if you're dead, and it will never bring your loved ones back. That's what I got so upset about was his carelessness. Then when all his friends thought it was cool, I was the only one out of 22 replies to his post that thought it was insane.........

I just had to post it up in the Firepit to check my sanity lol.

Yeah I can't wait to teach my daughter stuff!!! She'll be 3 next year and we're going to finally get to unwrap her Power Wheels Bright Blue Ford Raptor lol. My inlaws bought it since my father in law has a Bright Blue Ford Raptor (now they're red vs blue so glad they bought it when they did!!!) He plans on taking a pic of her in her Raptor and him next to her in his. It'll certainly be a great day for grandpa and fun one for my daughter!

As well it has plenty of room to mount a motorcycle or car battery without problem in the front. Needless to say about a week ago I picked one up for her as one of her Christmas presents me and my wife couldn't wait, and since she is too young to understand Christmas anyways we went ahead and open it and assemble it so she could enjoy it, we really didn't taught she would get the hang of it so quick as she did but so far she loves it...so far she knows and understand what the skinny pedal on the floor does. she is just 1 1/2 year old tho.

Yes. I agree. He's an idiot! Common since is uncommon these days. I would forward the video to local authorities. He's committing child endangerment as well as reckless endangerment to the general public.

Yes, sir it has a metal frame for most of the front parts and couple in the rear...I open and assemble the truck mainly so she would get on it and kill time...she loves so much...secondly to register it and have the warranty activate just in case something brakes.
The things that sold me were; the truck is higher than most other ride-on trucks, it has working real diesel truck sounds and horn...working rear light mounted in the roll bar. As well the front marking lights...the tires actually have a rubber strip thus giving it more traction on road than the average plastic tires. And lastly like I already mentioned it the big space in the front...which allows you to mount a car battery no problem, in order to provide the truck with a longer play time, and even higher speed if needed lol. My plan is to make the front and rear light working light....as well install a radio or an iPod speaker and iPod....I have one old iPod I don't use and speakers that can easily be mod to fit in the fake stereo area the truck has on the dash board. And if possible add 2 more 12 bolt motors to the front tires so it can be a real 4x4. I been repeating some thread on the Internet about mods that parents have done to their kids ride-on vehicles and it looks like fun little projects. As well a good opportunity to bind and teach your kids about mechanics and what nots in a safe and simple way.

Good info to know on all accounts. Yeah I posted a video of a family doing the same thing with a 7 year and they were facing all kinds of charges. Didn't even make him stop and think... This ex friend of mine thinks he is above any laws. One day it's just gonna catch up to him.

Private property is one thing, but letting her drive down the road is another, especially at that age. When I was a kid I grew up on a farm and at 13 I was actually driving tractors, and our truck down the road pulling trailers loaded full or hay. But I agree, one has to use sense, and apparently this man has little.

Yep I was 12 when I started driving my dad's 77 CJ7 (learned how to drive a stick shift first), then my dad bought us an 87 Mitsubishi Montero 2DR when I turned. My brother and I put nearly 10K on it by going up and down a 3/4 private gravel drive way lol. We also had a private 1 mile jeep road as my dad used to call it so we started off roading as well. We never hit the pavement until we got our learners permits.

By that time we already knew how the trucks handled, and it was mainly learning the laws of the road. I agree that if kids don't touch a car until their 15/16 it's harder for them because they have no clue about how to handle or drive a car then on top of that are all the laws. However as a parent I'd never just toss my young daughter the keys after a few circles in the driveway and say lets go to Mcdonalds!!! It's about the same as having a CHL and letting your kid carry the firearm IMHO.

Just glad I was raised with common sense!!!! My dad was an awesome man and I owe him for all the good things he taught me. I look back and at the time some of his strict rules seemed harsh, but now as an adult and a father I realize he was only teaching me the proper respect for others and the law.

6 years old and on my dad's lap, in a parking lot, in his 71 Chevy pickup with the camper on top. My brother had more nerve than I did, he took my dad's cars out before he was 16, though we both almost brought upon ourselves a world of hell when we were chased by the police on what is now I-205 in Oregon City.... we out ran them, but you couldn't convince me that the police were doing anything more than letting us know that we shouldn't do that because they could have caught us easily but they didn't.... funny that those simpler times were in the 70s - doesn't seem that long ago.

I get that he shouldn't - but honestly, we all did stupid things and survived them... he does get an honorable mention for darwin dad, but shouldn't my dad for letting us ride motorcycles, unattended when we were 10-up? what the world needs less is police action - if the kid's doing drugs or doing this schmidt without their dad about, yeah, that's about time to put a foot down - but why let the police have all the fun?
