My Do It All Trailer build.....

The axle is spring under. There's 3" of up travel before the axle hits the frame. The fender has about 4" of clearance over the tire. There's an 1.5" lip from the top of the fender down towards the tire. The tire will tuck into the fender completely.

With that said, my expectation is that I MAY have to spring the trailer over someday if the load is bottoming axle on frame. Everything is rated 3500#.

Okay. Mine is also a 3500 lb axle & spring combo. Trust me...you're not going to bottom out 3500 lb springs. I actually took a leaf out of mine to try to soften it up a tad. It's pretty much identical to yours except spring over. I did the spring over to match the Rancho lift appearance wise. Its currently on 35"s but I will upgrade to 37"s when I get some new shoes for the Hummer. I positioned the fenders to allow for mud-caked 37"s with a couple inches to spare. This seems to match the fender-to-tire gap on the truck as well. I'm not running any bumpstops...not sure what you could put in it to bottom it out (gold bricks maybe?).

I stack some serious weight on my mine...routinely. It hardly squats at all. I have had it full of sand, blocks, firewood....you name it. I run 20psi max in the tires and they absorb a lot of the bumps, (especially important when its empty). Any more tire pressure than that and it tends to bounce around on highway bumps. I should look into some lower rate springs...but I've got this set-up tuned pretty good. I just happen to be clearing some tree tops this week, and the timing on this topic is perfect. Here's some pics from this morning with a load of rotton maple tops. The third pic shows the spings with a full load...

Gonna take a little grinding on the corner welds. But I am pleased!!

They'll sit flush with the frame.

Make no mistake about it.... These panels were an extraordinary PITA to fit. I needed a little more wiggle room.

Did a little road testing today. I'm pretty pleased. It's quite a bit heavier with the floor and panels

I'm going to try and do all the details tomorrow. Safety chains, lights, wiring, and tailgate.

Trailer is looking good. Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm hoping to start mine in a month or two. First thing will be axle wheels and fenders. I got some military lights I'm gonna use to keep it similar with my hummer and its theme. I'm gonna be stealing some ideas from you and 4 speed.

Stealing is good, if you ask me. I borrow all my good ideas from people far smarter than I will ever be. The biggest problem I have is that I keep making small changes. Each thing costs me time. I could have been done in 2 weeks if I had preordered the axle and not made so many design changes to the skin, fenders and tailgate.

It ain't stealing if somebody gives it to you!

Chad & Seth...this thing is so simple, you should just grab your plasma...some 14ga....and have at it. Take it to a metal shop to get it formed...

P.S. Maybe Scarsman can cut em out for you? Let me know and I will send him the DXF file to download into his CNC Plasma.

I'd really like some thoughts from the peanut gallery on this design... It will be fully enclosed in smooth sheet-metal.
