Ran Last Chance Canyon twice, once in spring and yesterday. Also ran Defense Mine this year. (great trail)! Thankful for no breakage, and not many miles added. My tires are due, I thought 2015 would be when I graduated to 35's but I guess not. Wishing all a Merry Christmas, and see you next year!

when Kflips started this thread 4 years ago I thought it was a great idea, you get to look back at your previous years and see where you have come from and look back on your recent mods and adventures.

January 2015 started off awesome, 2 kickass Big bear snow runs really started off the year right and tackling john bull in the snow was a ton of fun. In February, I went to king of the hammers and thats where my motor blew up and put a damper on my wheeling. I ended up doing a V8 swap that I thought would never get done but with time and effort it did get done. I went to moab with my brother in his JK as the v8 swap wasnt done in time but got to hangout with the blacksheep which is always a good time! After moab the hummer got done and it I did a ton of local wheeling to work out the bugs and finished up college. The plan after graduation was to hit the legendary rubicon trail. So I got the hummer in shape for that which involved redoing all my aftermarket electrical with a blue seas system so I didnt cause a wildfire so now I have legit and safe wiring, rebuild the eaton e locker and just did maintenance. The rubicon was in July and an absolute blast! Probably one of the best trips I have ever done. We hit fordyce creek after the rubicon and I broke my front R&P. Pulled the driveshaft and unlocked the hubs and drove 450 miles home. Fixed it did a few runs and one with the H4O crew up in big bear and broke them a month later at gorman. At this point I realized that the bearing races would come in and out by hand which they should not! I got a new high pinion housing from CJ and put that together along with an ox locker in the rear since I broke my eaton e locker again. Then it was time for hammers again with still a non complete hummer and took my brothers JK and had a great time. Bent his driveshaft but got him a new one and were all good. Then some more local runs, hit up hammers again in the H3 broke my first ever rear axle shaft and front axle shaft on sledgehammer but still made it home with no tow truck. Fixed it all up and broke a u joint at gorman. I also built a brushguard with my tube bender that sat in a box for years.

Overall it was a year full of breakage and carnage which is unfortunate but expected as I pass into this phase of tougher wheeling. Now I gotta continue to build it to handle the abuse. The SAS was an entry way to tougher trails but now its time to beef up the drivetrain to handle it

I broke
-2 front R&Ps
-eaton e locker
-blew up a motor
-front axle shaft
-2 u joints
-rear axle shaft

Mods
-V8 swap
-rebuilt 4l60e with upgrades
-ox locker in the rear
-low pinion housing to high pinion 44
-built a brushguard

trails
-rubicon
-moab
-part of fordyce
-clawhammer
-sledgehammer
-jackhammer
-big bear 2 times in snow
-H40 Gold mtn run
-local trails a handful of times
-dry canyon
-gorman 3 times

Whats for 2016?
Roll cage, rear axle upgrade, build up the 44 some more, wheel as much as possible, and now that I finished school I have a new job lined up for the new year. It does come with a company car so no more DDing squeaky which sucks! I actually love DDing the Hummer but 2016 will bring a new chapter to my life. Weekends off which hopefully means I can wheel more or less lol who knows. So it should be interesting but im excited.

Only two trips on the trails this year. One to Rausch Creek in my H3T - I broke the bracket holding the brake line just above the rear diff (again) running through the firepit and broke a CV at the very end of the day (IROC NDs are very grippy tires). Otherwise not much new on the H3T front.

One trip to Rausch in my HMMWV

Replaced one winch cable in the HMMWV with synthetic, upgraded my interior cup holders by replacing the duct tape used to hold the cups. Added a CB, a military antenna and a standard CB antenna. I love that truck offroad, not so much driving on the road.

Only made Moab once, Big Bear once and I think Marble Falls once. BB was a ride along. Busy year. Lots of travel. Looking forward to the holidays and spending time with the family.

Think I did LCC twice, Gold Mountain in Big Bear. Guess not enough wheeling. Life, work and fixing the pig seem to get in the way

Didn't get much wheeling in this year. One run in LCC and one in Big Bear. Truck spent a *lot* of time in the shop (still there as of the writing of this). Headed home to Denmark to spend Christmas with the family. 2015 was not the best year I've had so hopefully 2016 is better.

Hey all. Hope all of you had a great year. I haven't been active as many of you regulars may have noticed. Only put about 1500 miles on the T this year. I have an '05 Mini that does DD duty.
Just dropping a line to say I'm still alive. ;)

Happy new year to everyone.

Love our Mini S. It is like driving a gokart on the street.

David! I did not know you were a Mini guy too. People always laugh when I tell them I have a Hummer and a Mini. Very different but both great vehicles.

I am in the same boat. I park a Pontiac Solstice and Kia Soul next to my H3.

2016
WOW! We have been doing this thread for 6 years now. It is crazy to look at where we all came from. 2016 was certainly a whirlwind, squeaky was no longer a daily driver and on a personal level I visited 12 states this year and every square mile in CA. I travelled a lot for work and because of that squeaky spent much more time in the driveway but from a wheeling stand point I wheeled the piss out of it after July. Before July was just working on it, and working on everyone’s rigs to get ready for the dusy.
I started out in January camping and wheeling at big bear in the snow, then seized a wheel bearing going to KOH GAHHH! After that trip it was time to get wrenching. After breaking my 10 bolt shaft I wanted a 1 ton rear end. I didnt want to do a 14 bolt, keeping with the theme of oddball I got an Eaton HO72. The 14 bolt big brother. 5.14 gears and a detroit locker. I was concerned about the streetability with the detroit but once I got it all figured out you cant feel it! It rocks!!!! No one has ever done a junkyard rear axle ABS compatible swap so I had my work cut out for me and luckily it all worked out ABS works, the brakes work great with the MC and Brake Booster. I also converted the front to 8 lug which was quite some work as well. Then I put some RCV D44 shafts in and ram assist. I wheeled locally at Gorman, rowher, and drinkwater to make sure the new setup worked. Then I spent many weekends doing a D60/14Bolt swap on my brothers JK and helped my buddy put in a new motor in his ZJ, regear a TJ. I put on 40’s and ran the dusy. The dusy was a letdown in difficulty, it wasnt that difficult. We had good camping and good times with friends (friends who were there in the moment might say otherwise for me lol.) Then I wheeled it with no problems at hammers and locally a lot. It all worked out great! Ran sunbonnet, chocolate thunder, sledgehammer until my bad luck bit me. An ox locker bolt on the front diff came loose flung around and chipped the pinion, my explorer 5.0 fan (which supposedly worked with an H3 alpha) didnt and hit the radiator when flexed out, then also had a trans cooler line that was on for years decide to randomly come off lose all fluid and blow up the trans. Overall it was a great year, hit hammers 3 times in a month and half, 2 with squeaky one with my brothers JK. Unfortunately this past month, the joke continues as its better to have bad luck then no luck. On the bright side, its a vehicle its fixable and I have a lot in life to be blessed with so some bad vehicle luck is just a part of the game.
To summarize my essay
Wheeled:
-Big bear snow wheeling
-Gorman as usual
-Locally a lot (drinkwater, rowher)
-Dusy Ershim Trail
-Sledgehammer (Hammers)
-Sunbonnet (Hammers)
-Chocolate thunder (Hammers)
-Resolution (In bro’s JK at hammers)
-Wrecking Ball (in Bro’s JK at hammers)
Broke:
-I DIDN’T BREAK A R&P OR SHAFT THIS YEAR!!!
-Seized wheel bearing going to KOH
-Radiator
-transmission (bad luck)
-I DIDNT BREAK A R&P OR SHAFT THOUGH!!!!

Upgrades:
-New factory gas tank skid that I reenforced
-new winch again
-RCV D44 shafts
-Revalve shocks, which is AMAZING
-new draglink to allow better turning radius
-8 lug front swap retaining H3 brakes
-Eaton HO72 axle swap with detroit locker
-Aluminum radiator
-I would say an upgrade is not breaking axle shafts or R&P!!!!

Next year, 2017!!!!
What will happen? I want to hit fordyce, hit hammers alot, obviously in the process of fixing the trans but that should be still before 2017 and within the next week or so. Rear bumper/armor and cage for real this time...I am also building a D70 front. The D44 is on a chipped pinion (from a freak accident) and I wheeled it hard with no issues but I gotta have a back up going. I still cant believe I didnt grenade a single shaft or R&P so lets keep that streak going...O and not a huge priority but convert the factory 4:1 t case to a 2wd option so I can stop unbolting my driveshaft on long road trips...

Lastly on a Hummer world basis I feel like we are all making big strides as a community! More SAS going on, the low one without a spring over from Australia is awesome!!

I found out outfitter has a new front diff in his rig for testing, AWESOME!!!

I saw real badass tubular rebuildable control arms hit the market for H3s

If you ever have rear axle issues I have found out this year that ABS compatibility is a non issue and I got it to work so that's an option for the future.

These additions on top of the existing upgrades such as diff bushing upgrade, steering rack clamps all this stuff is making the H3 better and better!!

Rancho discontinued their lift which sucks but I hope someone can fill that void.

We all start somewhere, I started with painting emblems and little stuff but it's cool to see as a community the mods are getting more focused to real performance!

Everyone have a great holiday and new year!

I like this thread :)

For me, 2016 was a year of change.

I moved out of the house I had been renting and into a house I bought. I sold my H1 early in the year and bought a RAM Power Wagon instead. I sold my VW Passat TDi back to VW and bought a VW GTI instead.

Hopefully within the next year or two I will own either a de-militarized HUMVEE or another H1.

Well guess ill participate in this thread too since 2016 was the year I went back to hummer ownership!

To start, I had the Chevy Avalanche which i blew up the rear end and transmission on. Was an awesome truck, i regret selling it and the custom roof rack Chris and I made. then moved on

to a

V-8 Mercedes with 450hp lol - which I owned for 8 months, went through 3 sets of pilot sport tires, many tanks of gas and MILLIONs of memories, the most fond one being the time I scared the **** out of Chris and nearly made him cry at speeds well into the triple digits. Sadly the transmission began failing on the car so i traded it in for my now current hummer.

To driving a 2008 Hummer H3 adventure package!
