Winch mounting question

I have been looking at a few different winch mounting options. The question is which mount bolts on the most securly for strength? I know some just bolt to the tow loop lugs. I was wondering if the DOI or predator have more attachment pionts, or the ARB bumper, or ano others that are still available. The thing is that if I put a 9K winch on I dont want to rip my front end off during a recovery.

Im pretty sure someone will explain the weld on brackets from ridge demon but all I did was bolt it with the tow hook bolts and its still good. I want to reinforce it but I want to cover it as well eventually.

Mostly what I think I am asking is do they all mount to the same tow-hook lugs or do any of them also bolt to the sides of the frame further in. Also any suggestions or opinions on the strongest based on experience.

Knowing ARB they most likely bolt to the frame too. They always have additional brackets to increase mounting points & strength.

The attachment points for the tow hooks can each take the maximum load of the winch as long as it is inline and doesn't produce a moment that the frame wasn't designed for. DeFelice designed his bumper so that the winch line comes off the drum in line with the frame to eliminate this moment.

If you go with a winch mount shelf that is higher than the frame it will produce a bending moment on the frame and then you need frame stiffening such as Rigid Demon provides.

THORparts...it bolts to the front frame flanges, and also to the side flanges....total of (8) bolts. You can hang it from a tree if you find a tree strong enough. No stiffening needed....

It also has better-than-stock approach angle because the winch is actually behind the frame flanges...not sticking out in front...

Here's the Iron Bull bumper for the H3. As you can see the winch is just above the frame rails but does have additional frame supports.

From my memory, the spec for a D-ring is 1.5 times the GVWR of the vehicle. I would recommend the Ridge Demon plate regardless if the winch is inline with the D-hooks or not, if that is the primary attachment for the winch (bumper). Not all pulls are perfectly aligned with the winch location. What happens if you are pulling someone up a mountain, over a steep incline, etc.?

The Ridge Demon plate is a very inexpensive insurance to prevent the factory plate from bending...

Thats what I am talking about. Something that mounts to the front bolts and the sides of the rails. Great looking bumper too.

I look forward to checking out your front bumper this weekend. Maybe I will have to pick one up when you get them back in stock next month.
