Many people know my fondness for road trips. In the past year I've taken two long ones - many miles, few days. One of those was my longest to date, I think. Phoenix to Boston and back in nine days, about 6000 miles overall.

I know a bunch of you have taken some long trips, both in miles and days. What's your longest trip?

Flew to Spokane, WA and drove the T to Yellowstone, Tetons, Salt Lake, Moab, Durango, Roswell, Carlsbad, and then to South Texas.......with the family in tow. What a great Summer vacation. We truly live in a unbelievably beautiful country.

When I was in the Army I got orders on Friday to report for a school on monday morning. I loaded up my motircycle saturday morning with every bit of military gear I owned and set off from Ft. Hood, TX to Virginia Beach. It rained 1000 of the 1500 miles on the trip. In a car, I drove from Miami Beach to Albuquerque for a new job. I don't know how far that was but it took a while with my family in the car too. Going from ABQ to SA so many times on a motorcycle (ZX7), I should have tried to document a trip to get into the Iron Butt.

Medford, Oregon to Fort Bragg, North Catolina. Either direction. Did it a few times when I was in the army to see my folks and explore the country.

Not the longest in miles but certaily the longest in time. Driving Pacific Coast Highway from Mexico to Canada.

Saw some of the most majestic views and the craziest traffic.

2 longest for me, wife and 2 dogs were Maryland to phoenix and northern CA to pittsburgh, pa. The last one was brutal, we left in end of may and figured we would be ok weatherwise. Well we were very wrong lol. We hit snow in the lake tahoe area and had whiteout conditions the whole way through wyoming. on top of that, the blower motor gave out so no heat and couldnt defrost the windshield. Talk about a miserable trip

Got a two week gig in Texas to shoot a Harley motorcycle event. Drove straight from Hillsboro, Oregon to San Diego, slept for two hours. Then straight on to San Angelo Texas. Two weeks later we went from San Angelo to Vegas. I got robbed. Had a bilateral facial fracture, broken rib, and foot. Drove from Vegas to Hillsboro Oregon.

The second time I went we drove straight to Texas, alternating drivers every few hours. Then back to Hillsboro again.

Hum... you might think this is fake but its not.

I loaded up the Hummer with wife and 5 pet Ferrets and headed south from Cold Lake Alberta. Cold Lake is 7 1/2 hours north of the US boarder doing 65. I'm now in Consejo, Belize. Good fun drive, but I need to buy shocks badly. Was going to try Guatemala but decided it might not be a good idea with the wife and Ferrets lol. Not sure of my total distance but 4-5000 miles at least.

Salem OR to Miami FL. ~3,350 miles. Once alone in a '95 Trans Am, second time with my oldest who was 5 at the time in an '81 Corvette. About 3 1/2 days each time. Drive until I get tired, find a hotel, get up whenever I wake up and continue on.

I've also done San Diego CA to Salem OR a few times, including down and back on 3 or 4 day weekends. About 1,100 miles each way - one day trips.

We have done many long quick trips when we were racing. When my oldest daughter got married we drove from Texas to West Point to NYC then down to DC and back to Texas. That was a great road trip. Now I fly more than drive.

Longest recently was up the street to the grocery store for beer and then back to the house---sobriety was chasing me like a bloodhound and I began to feel reality closing in fast. Our open container laws are brutal around here so it must have been 17 minutes in between beers........oh, and man I had to pee as well.......
