Transmission line leak

I have a transmission cooling line seeping a little bit where the metal joins the hose (near the radiator). I bought replacement lines on Amazon ($17 & $20), but reading through the service manual it says to lower the transmission to install the lines. Is that right? Has anyone replaced the lines without lowering the transmission? It's been raining here for days and I haven't gotten out to take a closer look.

If the transmission has to be lowered I guess I'll just replace the bad section with some hose. I'm thinking I could cut the bad section out, double flare the ends and install a hose with a couple of hose clamps. Is that the way to go?

i had some seepage there too. i just cut the metal fittings joining the metal lines to the rubber sections and ran new rubber hose up to my external trans cooler. i would think you should be able to do the same and just use hose clamps. i havent had any leaking isses with the hose clamps. i think they might be referring to replacing the hard lines off the transmission if theyre saying it has to be lowered... if its just the short rubber sections up front, you can get to those pretty easily just like getting to your oil filter. pull the skid plate off and theyre right there..

This is what's in place of those factory rubber sections. Those oem rubber hoses are crimped on and come loose over time. I had a cheap harbor freight flairing tool that was being a b**** so I didn't flare the hard lines from the transmission. There's a bubble flare about 1/2" back from the end of the hardline that the rubber hose was crimped around. I just pushed the new hose on until that bubble wouldn't let me push it any further. Tightened up the hose clamp and good to go. With that thermal bypass I have in there, I have a few more hose clamps than you'd have going from the trans hard lines to the radiator hard lines.

Yeah the lines I bought are the entire replacement lines. They go from the transmission ports to the radiator. I didn't think the transmission would need to be lowered to install them though.

They attach on the side of the trans I believe. They pass above the oil filter down the passenger side. If you find the tool they use to crimp the rubber section to the hard line, you may be able to re-crimp it and stop the leak.

Its a common spot for a leak. If you look on panzers build, I posted a picture of how I have mine set up. You can remove the factory crimps using a hacksaw to open them up. Then attach rubber trans line from there to an aftermarket cooler

Yeah it looks like after removing the factory crimps there's a bubble there in the line that will help hold the hose in place with a hose clamp.
