After having been ridiculed in Bishop by Craig and Adrian and the fact I pretty much had no service the whole weekend. I decided to ditch my tmobile fisher price, barbie G1 and got an iPhone. The first app I added was Tapatalk. What cool and useful app's do you have on your phone?

Apps:
Cardstar - put on your grocery store cards, etc. so you can have your phone scanned at the store and don't have to have cards
Scoremobile - I think it's a better scoring app than ESPN
Yelp - I like to look at and review restaurants
Yahoo Fantasy Football
Venmo - way to pay people w/o transaction fees and w/o Paypal. Recipient must have Venmo too. (just learned of this one today from LagunaH1)

I use tapatalk alot and recently downloaded some offroad gps apps for my droid x. since bishop I now have a constant need to know my elevation and the gps app helps with that

• z4root - Allowed me to root my phone temporarily

I used Z4 Root also and it worked great until the update :gaah:
My favorite ap is Slingplayer which allows me to control my DVR cable box at home and watch live TV at any time.
I also use Real HDMI which allows me to out jack via the HDMI jack on my DroidX to HDMI in on my TV
Skype Mobile is awesome!

Not trail related, but some of my new iphone/ipad apps:

Splashtop remote desktop - great remote desktop app for Ipad and Iphone
FileBrowser -> I VPN into my files server and browse files with this
Evernote -> oranization/to dos
iHeart Radio -> listen to radio stations in my home town back in Louisiana and LSU sports broadcasts.
Directv App for Ipad is very cool

Evernote, Dropbox (I keep a lot of H4O reference here for remote forum support), Taptalk is huge for me, Forum Runner now that we support it, Scoremobile - best sports app though it is much better on iPhone vs. Android, Google Drive as I use it for a lot of documents, especially as related to the forum.

iPhone: Kiwi wifi OBDII cable as well as apps Fuzzy Car/Codes and Rev. That's the setup I used when my electrical system got fried in the desert and the truck went into limp mode. Eventually it stopped altogether. With the iphone i got the H3 up and running. Enough to get back home. I've used these to diagnose many other OBD vehicles both for myself and for others. Great setup!!!

Whatsapp messenger is one of the best apps and it's cross platform. It works with iPhone, Droid, Crackberry, Nokia etc. it allows you to message, sent pics as well as current location all for free. All you need is Internet. Be it by cell coverage or wifi. I use it a lot to stay in touch with people around the world. Especially when I'm out of my cell coverage in another country where roaming charged are ridiculous. All you need is wifi. Well worth it.

I've had my Windows 7 phone about 2 years now and just remembered a couple weeks ago that I could access apps. When I first got the phone the Windows 7 was so new there were only a couple sucky apps for it, so after looking a couple of times, I just forgot about it. I got on the marketplace and was amazed at how many apps are in there now. I think I was looking for a train horn to start, thought it might be a cool ring tone. Then I found the flashlight, which is freakin' awesome---especially at work or when looking for things around the house.
I didn't really find a train horn, but did find an air horn, and it drove my wife nuts, so my daughter and I kept playing with it until we really got yelled at.
The dog whistle was interesting for all of 30 seconds, but cool enough to annoy the wife again.
I downloaded a scanner app which I thought would be good for work---then I realized I can just take a picture of my document and get the same results!
I'm still wanting some kind of ringtone app that'll let me use clips of my favorite music. One of my first phones let me use songs, but I haven't been able to do that on another phone since.

I picked up a Nexus 7 from googles play shop last week, $199, 7" screen, unlocked [its from google] and has the latest android OS on it.

More importantly it has a full featured GPS chipset in it ...

I'm testing out different applications for it but I'm not super happy with whats out there for offline mapping for android.

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger for navigon USA for $40, which should feature a full featured off line mode [its owned by Garmin].

There's an upcoming offline google maps and navigation mode coming up, but I can't get it working right, so I'm not sure if that feature is enabled yet.

I'm also testing out Gaia maps for Android, seems decent and you can precache open source maps.

I'll bring it and the ipad out to Bishop this weekend and test out a few mapping apps.

Right now my favorites are:

Delorme Topo USA for Windows [laptop]
MotionX for IPAD/IOS

For the trail,

Everytrail pro ($4 pro works offline, free version works online only) VERY good app but mostly because the funtreks guys made their trail guides free a few months ago.
