As a driver who routinely drives exact 10 mph over the speed limit (except school zones during school times), I should like this video.
However, the fundamental premise is faulty. Neither politicians nor police set the speed limits - that is set (for the most part) by the State's dept. of transportation - and they set the speed limit based on a very specific criteria. The criteria isn't perfect (ask anyone who knows of a 30 mph corner that can be taken at 60 mph), but it's not politically based (okay, exception was the 55 mph speed limit).
Police enforce the limits set by the Dept. of Transportation, and if you disagree with the speed limit - you can appeal to have it changed (most times it's done to reduce the speed limit because of a change in use, but it can also be raised)

Oh yeah, and the guy behind the video; Afroduck; is facing charges in NY for basically using the city as his personal race track... so he's not exactly the poster child of a law-abiding citizen who wants a change. He lives in Canada and puts Americans at risk because he's an adz hole

Thank you for telling me more about the guy, i didn't research this topic to verify it.

At the very least I do think that with those driving much slower than the rest of traffic play a part in traffic collisions (I hate when they're called accidents or incidents, takes any blame away from the parties involved) just as those driving much faster play a part as well.

Whoever this guy is he's got a point. Most of the highway speed is 55, and when there are no traffic lights or interactions and no pedestrians , there are absolutely no reason to go that slow with modern cars. The safety of the cars was improved, the performance was improved greatly, but the speed limits never got changed.
Ohh, and the worst thing is driving at night. When there is not a leaving soul around you and you forced to crawl 55mph on a 4 lane highway that starches for 20 milles without single turn with concreat barier on both sides of it.
The technology moved forward, the auto industry moved forward, but the lows of "safety" are more then 50 year old. I think the speed limit should be monitored and adjusted according to traffic situation and weather conditions. Also, the idea of different speed limit for the different lanes(like on some German autobahns) should be adopted as well in places where the are more 2 lanes.

If it's anything like the research that goes in to making changes to local city streets then there's a lot of data involved. Data about speed, direction, volume, accidents, etc etc.

I can understand the local streets and for most of the part (in area where I live) the speed limit is very fair. The highways are different story. Most of the roads are limited to 55 and few are 60.
