So I am loving my Snugtop canopy but absolutely at a loss for getting it to latch correctly. Seems it is not closing all the way and only hitting the safety latch instead of fully latching, especially because I cannot get it to lock w/ the key. Reaching out to Snugtop directly hasn't helped (no response from them) and I am afraid to take it to a local shop because labor rates here are insane, but that may be my only option. When I picked it up we only just threw it on and bolted it in without putting much thought into calibration so I am thinking it is probably a simple fix. This is also the first canopy I've ever owned so I am no expert with installing these. Has anyone else had good luck setting theirs up? Thanks!

One thing to watch out for is the sliding tie downs on the adjustable track.

The arms can hit them when closing which prevents the latch from catching.

As for adjusting them- I did do mine and remember that it was a PIA but that was 5 years ago and I don’t really remember what I did exactly - big help I know

I ended up taking mine to a Snugtop dealer where they found that my locking handle was broken. They replaced it and adjusted the latches, and it now works perfectly. Much better than before when I would arrive home to discover the hatch had opened on the highway. Apparently this is a super common issue with these because the handle won't hold the latch, and like RamRod mentioned above, the latches are very sensitive to how/where they strike the pins.

A Snugtop dealer that solved a Slantback latch issue... Now that's someone I'd like to know. Who was that?

I've tried to get in contact with Snugtop...they don't answer emails... I've been trying to order replacement parts. Latches at first... now more. The highway salt is starting to eat things back there...

The weld at the bottom of the left gas lift let go this summer. The right one is still attached but it sort of feels like that gas lift is dead...and if it is maybe the left one has been taking all the weight for years...thus the weld break.

My thinking was to find a shop out in the country that sells a ton of truck caps and buy shop time from them.

Truck Builders in Lynnwood, WA, they did a great job, but not helpful if you’re outside the SW BC area. Yeah Snugtop told me I had to order parts through a local dealer and not through them. I emailed 3 local dealers and based on their answers and estimates, I chose one. Hope you get it figured out, it was quite a process, but in the end it only took them 90 minutes to permanently fix it.
