Silicone hoses vs. traditional radiator hoses

I need to replace the heater hoses on my friend's Infiniti and the OEM part numbers are a PITA to find. But it was easy to find aftermarket silicone replacement hoses, and for a decent price too.

Does anyone have experience with silicone hoses and can offer pros/cons of using them? Do they seal just as well and do they last?

I've always heard nothing but negatives when converting to silicone hoses, at least on the bmw forum. Apparently they are more prone to leaking, as in not mating well to the surface that they are slid over. And iirc they are known to slip off easily. However, maybe things have changed since I looked into it about a year ago.
