First off, I am hoping that this is the correct place to put this thread. I have another thread going about a home remedy to the seemingly more frequent "melting HVAC Resistor Connector" issue on our H3's, but this is an official Recall Letter so here goes. (I tried looking for a place specific to official recalls/TSB's, sorry moderators, will comply on request).
Basically, one year ago I received a recall letter from GM which explained the HVAC connector and harness issue(gets hot, melts, and fails), and in the letter it explained that they wanted to replace the connector and harness on all affected vehicles, but that they had no parts to do so at the time.
Now they have the parts.
"This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Previously you were informed that your 2007 model Hummer H3 was involved in GM recall 15042. General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to Motor Vehicle Safety exists in certain 2007 model year Hummer H3 Vehicles. As a result, GM is conducting a safety recall. We apologize for this inconvenience. However, we are concerned about your safety and continued satisfaction with our products.
IMPORTANT: Your Vehicle is involved in GM Safety Recall 15042. Schedule an appointment with your General Motors Dealer. This service will be provided to you at no charge.
Why is your vehicle being serviced? - The connector module that controls the blower motor speed in the heat/vent/air-conditioning(HVAC) system may overheat under extended operational periods at high and medium-high blower speeds. If this condition occurs, there is risk that the heat generated could melt the plastic surrounding the connector, which increases the risk of a fire.
What will we do? - Your General Motors dealer will replace the female connector and harness. This service will be performed at no charge. Because of service scheduling requirements, it is likely that your dealer will need your vehicle longer than the actual service correction time of 25 minutes.
What should you do? - You should contact your General Motors dealer to arrange a service appointment as soon as possible.
Did you already pay for this repair? - If you have paid for the recall condition, please complete the enclosed reimbursement form and present it to your dealer with all required documents. ..... Mail us if they dont comply...
