I am looking at rooftop tent for my H2 Hummer. I am trying to understand how much weight the roof can hold and can the OEM bars be used. I am looking at an IKamper and there will be 2 of us in the tent. The 2 of us are not little people. I see installs using the OEM system but never with the Ikamper or people in it

Any info or pictures will be helpfull before I spend 5,000 on this thing

I have a Bush Company rtt and 360 awning. It has been on for probably 4 years with no issues. I used 4 factory roof rails to distribute the weight better. Because the rails are wider than most rails I bought some steel and cut, drilled and painted my own mounts.

When looking at the weight ratings, keep in mind they are dynamic loads (i.e. driving down the highway). The static load, the tent and occupants while parked is going to be over the maximum most likely, but still will not cause damage.

We have Smittybilt overlander XL tent plus tent annex. I remember that the H2 roof supports upto 700 lbs of total weight. I also added two extra roof rails (bought them off eBay) for extra support. The tent sits well and we have travelled over 6000 miles with it.
