How fitting.

Needed to be him or Arnold..........Think I prefer Mr. Hall to be the first.

Rod Hall Orders First Humvee C-Series Kit

Mon, Aug 13, 2012

Off-road racing legend Rod Hall is no stranger to the HUMMER brand. In 1992, he heard a rumor that
AM General wanted to race their new civilian vehicle simply called a “HUMMER” in the Baja 1000.
Hall’s racing preference has always been production vehicles, and after a few meetings with A
M General – Rod Hall racing and Team HUMMER became synonymous. It’s only fitting that Hall,
who still has an H1 Alpha in his garage, has put his name at the top of the list for the first Humvee C-Series Kit Car.

I don't know what makes me happy enough to cry---seeing the H1 coming back to life, or seeing HUMMER Guy.net come back to life!
How freakin' cool is it that the Hall's will be the first to sign up??!!

I knew Hummer couldnt be gone for to long. I also heard a rumor that Rod Hall will be starting up another "Hummer / Humvee " racing team. Can't wait to see what will happen in future years.

Almost like the light at the end of the tunnel we've all been looking for :)

I'm happy to see the name come back. I'm even happier to see that it's more of limited production.

Don't forget guys, this is a Humvee, not a Hummer. Glad to see Rod is taking part. This could be a step in the right direction for AMG to reboot the racing program like we discussed. I wonder what Robby Gordon is doing...

Thats great.. Well, kinda glad its someone with a history with the brand, instead of Joe Preppie wanting to spend Mom and Dads money on something cool...

Ooof...the chicken definitely came before the egg on this one. Though keep in mind what Indy said about Humvee/HUMMER distinction...

I too am glad that Rod is getting the first - I don't think we'll have to worry about him doing an about-face on his passion for these trucks like Artificial Arnie did w/ Hummer.

RE: racing - since it's a kit car, it doesn't really fit in anything besides the oddball class. It'd still be fun, though. I want to drive Rod's when it's done. :)

No itll be 12. Okay, yes it's pretty much a Hummer, just don't want to say that too much so GM doesn't get their panties in a wad and ends this real quick. Call me paranoid, I don't care haha.

You said GM but you really meant... So Obama doesn't get his panties in a wad, right? :giggle:

GM's panties are already in a wad, they pulled all references to H1 off their website in the spring.

Makes me wonder if the rumbling is true that the hummer brand as a whole was a lease and will revert back to AM General in 2014.

I've never heard that rumor... Is there any more meat to it than that?

I highly doubt that rumor is true. If that was the case I have a feeling the C series wouldn't be happening and AM General would have just told us to wait a little longer.

It came from one of the vendors from the HML, more fuel for the fire. However, its unlikely, as Indy stated, AM General could have just sat on it for another year or so until things revert back and then roll it back as a Hummer(tm)

I wonder if the roof and doors thing is having to pay a vendor to retool in order to build them again. Big cash outlay vs receiving static from GM. Seems kinda odd. The early prototype H1's from 91 had the X doors with a vinyl pad that clipped on the interior and left the slider knob and pull handle intact. Heck I'd be happy with something as basic as that :)
