Am I the only one that finds the timing of this suspicious? The UN Small Arms Treaty is supposed to be signed on the 27th of this month. That puts this attack only a week before. Sure sounds like a crisis that shouldn't go to waste.

US is not going to recognize that treaty; even if Obama and his crew of a-holes are breathing hard for it to pass. Take 2/3 of the Senate to ratify and no way in hell it will ever be ratified by the USA.

I have zero faith in our Senators to do the right thing. You can bet your ass they will ratify it if it comes up for a vote.

They can ratify it all they want. Constitution trumps a treaty and the Supreme Court has already ruled on the individual right concept. They would need 2/3 for the treaty followed by 3/4 to change the Amendment...then would have to convince the House of Reps to fund the action for it. Then, we introduce the factors of those unwilling to enforce such commands at both local law and military levels, AND the small but real percentage of the population that would flat-out operate against and execute those involved in confiscation efforts. Fat chance of it happening. That said, I'm really curious as to what games Mr. O will be playing on his second term given he already ignores most of the rules. Interesting times indeed.

And even if they did, (call me nieve) it would have little impact in the US other than the potential of reducing exports. The US is a small arms exporter. It would have no impact on buying your US made gun in the US.

As for the US senate...over 60 senators have already signed on that they WILL NOT sign a UN treaty and I would bet that they will NOT sign on to a gun control treaty with the UN. And this includes democrats as well as republicans. Gun control might be the only subject that I would bet my ass on with our congress.

Only thing I'd be worried about at the moment is an "assault weapon ban." It shouldn't be an issue due to Heller, but with O playing the games...

Good thing is most congress critters remember when they got their collective asses whooped for the original ban, so hopefully they're still gun-shy about that one.

I'm not worried about it... I'm counting on it! I sure hope they don't get that far, but the fact that this guy used a 100RD drum, I'm putting money (about 7-10 drums worth $$:giggle on them finding a way to limit hi cap mags/ drums. What actually does worry me is the possibility of limiting ammo purchases... but I really can't see them doing it.

I'm 57..and I've seen it all (even through cataracts)..I think this issue about guns and the size of Mags and the amount of rounds one can buy..will become a dead issue (no pun intended)..the Political heat is on JOBS and the ECONOMY..the last battle either side wants right now is to challenge the 2nd amendment again..

Jesus what a moron, most LEO's I know don't have issues with gun ownership. Heck at the safety/rescue classes we go to they repeatedly told us told us that during a major disaster in the LA area that we're on our own for a few days [earthquake/tsunami, etc.]. Thats one reason to be armed right there.

He should go back to figuring out his tax on 16 oz soft drinks.

I also carry and have for many years.. I refuse to go into a building that has a sign on the door that says "No Guns Allowed". To me, it tells the bad guy, "Don't worry about anyone taking a shot at you".
A couple of my neighbors have said they feel so much better knowing that this store or building is safe from those crazy people with guns. So I offered to give each one of them a very nice sign that says "My house is a gun free zone" and to place it in front of thier house where everyone can see it. So far... No one wants to do that. Why Not?
