Reason I heard for them not producing the Slatnback, was because the original Slantbacks, where designed from California Gold. And when AMG wanted to start building them, Cal Gold got their panties in a bunch, and wouldn't allow it. But hopefully soon, they can somehow introduce the other body styles.

For some reason, I can see Phil's Body Shop getting a lot of work requested once these Humvee C-series are released.

Yup. I was going to mention more of the interior today. The digicam is true but we never saw an actual vehicle. The warranty that was initially discussed to me was 12 mos 12,000 miles but hasn't been finalized yet. Also, they said after a successful first year they would look into more body styles. Hard doors can't be done because AM general doesn't produce a regular, unarmored door.

I really thought that AMG did produce Hard Doors. My friend Shane ordered some from AMG for his HMMWV resto. And they didnt look uparmored, but they probably where. Can't wait to see what AMG will do to the kits in the upcomming years.

Canvas non locking doors are a non-starter. The slantbacks leaked and were hard to see out of. I don't believe Cal Gold was involved in the decision to stop making the slantback. The AMG design was different anyway.

Supposedly only available as a kit - and GM dealers can't touch it. Does come with a 12 month warranty.

I can see the slantback issue. Arnold has the prototype hummer with the slant back [1991] and that has a big ass 1" rubber seals all over the place. I'm guessing its the original reason why they didn't offer it at all to begin with, after looking at that truck, AM General must have considered shipping it back in 1992.

If the door/roof thing comes to be true, I'm guessing AM General sourced out steel component construction to another company to build civilian roofs and doors which are steel. That company probably needs new tooling or jigs to produce again or needs a minimum order, the cost may be prohibitive unless they know for sure if there's interest.

Cal Gold does sell roofs and doors, they just don't look very good

Honestly I was expecting a wagon and a soft top, both with hard doors...

AM General does produce hard doors but they're all armored. Even the X doors have Kevlar. And call me crazy but the 500 pounders they're putting on now I don't want to mess with. They're heavy as heck to open lol.

no the kit won't count as a car but having the engine out will make it easer to convert to right hand drive!!!

and the aussie dollar is strong atm
