Post deletions?????

I tried to post to a recently closed thread but I think moderators are taking too much liberty on deleting members post. What's up with the BS. Shouldn't this be a place to share ideas and help each other out? I'm all for supporting our sponsors, but lets not forget there are other manufacturers out there as well that may have a quality product too. Lets at least take the time to evaluate each new product before it is discounted as inferior. Let the SPONSOR make an evaluation on whether it is crap or not. After all they are the experts, they will have the best input and advice, heck, they may even say that THEY can take one of those ideas to improve their own product. Now it benefits us all. After all, isn't how this all started to begin with, continuous improvement? It's one thing to not allow future replies to a post but another to completely delete it. I am a member of several other Hummer forums but I have chosen H4O as my home because of every post I read I never seen any disrespectful attitudes until now. Don't ruin it because one member was just trying to help out.
Just my thoughts.

My feeling that after reading the thread was that he was being chastised for trying to help. I think it could have been handled better is all I am saying. If someone has a similar product to a sponsors, there should be a way to post the thread to them to respond first. As a moderator/admin, you have the ability present it to them. I think the sponsors would appreciate it as well. They may not always be there to supply a part so having a back up is necessary.

rascole, I will be putting up that thread again shortly, albeit some posts will be removed as they do not contribute to the primary discussion. It was removed not because of the original content but due to the direction it took, including derogatory comments by one of the posters.

The concern that you have shared regarding our removal of the thread is similar to the concern that we get when we leave a thread like that up - most members don't come here for drama, they come to talk Hummers. I'm in the line of fire either way

The original post that was deleted. Was a competitors product on one of the forum sponsors threads about his product. If it was originally posted on a separate thread, I don't think there would have been an issue.

^^ That's not cool on ANY forum, especially not this one. Sponsor forums are for their products. It would be like you putting up a part for sale and someone else walking into your thread and saying "hey I have a similar part but it's made buy a different company. I don't need it. Anyone want to buy it?" You would be pissed.

You are right. There wasn't An issue until he decided to escalate and take the thread in another direction and make it personal. Oh well, that was his choice.
