Painting over chrome mirrors.

I'm currently in the process of blacking out my Hummer H3 Alpha, and one of the downsides to the Alpha is its excessive chrome throughout the truck.
This was my truck two weeks ago when I bought it:

This is my truck three days ago after I finished blacking out all the emblems & some-what tinting out my reflectors and blinkers with a 3 layer matte silver spray & two layers of black over spray.

So now all I have left are my door handles, side view mirrors, and the front bumper apron. I am going to my friends autobody next week to get an estimate on him painting my whole front grill/bumper, I plasti-dipped my chrome grille and didn't love the look of it, so I'm going to be getting a quote on painting the grille the same color black as the rest of the car, and same with the apron.

My question is if you have painted your chrome mirrors, how did you do it & with what product?
If you have any other tips or helpers for me getting rid of any other chrome on my truck or maybe even an easier way to remove the front bumper apron so I can possibly paint it myself please post here to help me out.

Thanks a ton everyone!

I plastidipped my mirrors and they turned out ok. I tried the grille, but did not like how it turned out, so I took the dip off of it. I am going to repaint my rear bumper, and my front grille as soon as the humidity drops back down. Love the black 3

Sweet thanks for the reply, you like the texture of the plasti-dip on the mirrors? & when you did it did you remove the mirror from the truck or just taped around it?

I know it's not paint per say but I used Duplicolor Truck Bed Armor with Kevlar, in a quart sized container, on all my chrome stuff... Just sanded everything down and then applied the liner. Best part is, it's easy to touch up, I just use some black plastidip or paint and it turns out looking good again. Has a rough texture but comes in handy when there's snow and ice everywhere, hand won't slip off the handles anymore...

Rustoleum bedliner is better than duplicolor in my opinion. Worked like a charm on everything. But the key is to sand it down as much as you can need a good base for the paint to stick. If you decide to use actual paint, sand, get some self etching primer, then paint with enamel.

Plastidip. Adheres pretty well to glossy surfaces, has a nongloss finish, it's fairly resistant to abrasion for normal use (but not for offroad) and it can be removed fairly easily (owners and tastes change). Paint or bedliner will require deglossing the chrome, a primer coat and be irreversible.

Dont use plastidip on the handles, it wont last very long. Good for other things though. Its a flat black look or you can add a glossy coat that is alright.

X2 on the door handles, Plasti dip did not hold up at all, it has held up well on my mirrors. Ended up ordering 5 black handles from rock auto $15.00 each, easy to install.

Am I the only one who's "chrome" door handles were just cheap plastic that went over top of the mirrors and handles? I used a hairdryer to heat the mirrors and handles and pried the plastic chrome junk right off.
