so I have an opportunity to grab a used, never installed set of oem ucp... whats everyones opinions on the oem stuff? I understand some form of protection is a necessity off road. im just wondering if the oem stuff is worth $250 or should I put that money into another brand/style of ucp that's superior to the oem stuff. that raises another question, is there ucp out there that is superior to the oem stuff? I have a little time to make up my mind. ucp wasn't really on the top of my to-do list but its def on there... just trying to decide if that's a good enough price to spring for it now...

IMO, the OEM ucp is the way to go and ucp is one of the first and best mods you can do to your rig if you are planning to go wheeling. That's a good price.

You might be able to find or build a custom UCP that is arguable better but it will be very difficult to beat that price. I'd jump on it.

There is a member on here selling skids for the H3 that I think are a great alternative to the OEM setup

Schwarttzy does, below is a post from his skid thread

So I think I have decided that 3/8 of inch steel is better. I giggle every time I go near the second pre production skid plates I hope to bolt on another rig tomorrow.

I figure I'll get the Thor plates to weld on. That should be more than enough for what I need right now. Now to find some sliders...
