what are your guys thoughts on this? i honestly think the bikers are at fault. the guy in the suv was trying to protect his family. and as far as the guy now paralyzed because the guy in the suv ran him over... Im sorry but thats his fault for being stupid and taking on an suv with a motorcycle. all these guys are lucky that this guy in the suv didnt have a carry permit or something. They would have all been screwed over even more.

For the first biker, it reminds me of an incident in Phoenix a couple of years back. He was pissed at a woman in a car so he pulled in front of her on the highway and slammed on his brakes. His anger backfired on him permanently. She was not charged in the biker's death

The videos they were "shooting to show off with" will show the TRUE story/side and all of their lies to protect their buddy will be uncovered. Gotta love the age of GoPro's if you're a lawyer. Can't fight recorded facts

that is the best video I found. all the others had opinions and commentary.

Lanesplitting is illegal in New York though two motorcycles may ride next to each other in one lane. BUT you may not ride between the lanes (on the lines), you also may not pass and overtake a vehicle (excluding motorcycles; unless two already next to each other) in the same lane occupied by the vehicle.

The first motorcycle slowed down in front of the Range Rover and that was his fault. The riders then should not have "circled the wagons" around the Range Rover. that partially invoked the fight or flight response from the driver. Most did not see one of the riders hitting the driver side windows with his hands (or at least appeared to be so in the video) after the Range Rover first stopped.

Cagers (motorcycle slang for vehicle that encloses its passengers) and riders need to respect each other. unfortunately riders deal with many idiot drivers out there. but drivers do come across a fair amount of riders that don't respect them either. it's a bad snowball that seems to get bigger and worse over time.

§ 1252. Operating motorcycles on roadways laned for traffic. (a) All
motorcycles are entitled to full use of a lane and no motor vehicle or motorcycle shall be driven in such a manner as to deprive any motorcycle of the full use of a lane. However, this subsection shall not be construed to prevent motorcycles from being operated two abreast in a single lane. (b) The operator of a motorcycle shall not overtake and pass in the same lane occupied by the vehicle being overtaken. (c) No person shall operate a motorcycle between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles. (d) Motorcycles shall not be operated more than two abreast in a single lane. (e) Subsections (b) and (c) shall not apply to police officers in the performance of their official duties.

That pretty much sums it up.

I saw this earlier in the week. I read an article on this video, and after the video cuts off Tue driver was forcibly removed from his car, beaten, and hospitalized. Some bikers claimed people were killed, but that claim was debunked by authorities. NYC has also permanently banned this bike rally.

The guys only mistake, in my mind, was getting off of the highway.

If I was in his shoes....I'd have done the same thing...

stupid stupid bikers. I get so angry at them because what happened was so preventable.
I ride a bicycle for exercise and fun - and I can't count the number of times people do stupid things to me; but what really lights me up is people riding as if their lawyer is protecting them. I'm an lawyer - so this conversation always ends badly for the other person; but it's what people think....

People ride their bikes or motorcycles in a way that is illegal. Drivers get pissed. But bikers - and this lights me up - say "well, if they hit me, I'll sue them homeless" .... really. Here's what really happens. 1) IF the driver stops, they will claim it was completely the bike-rider's fault - and the police will write the report saying just that; or 2) there won't be an accident, but the driver will be stupid mad, finally get around the instigator then take out that rage on the next biker (me) riding down the street.

But what really lights me up is this really, really, really stupid idea that money makes things better when you're in a wheelchair. I've yet to hear anyone who's won a large settlement say "well, the continuing pain is all worth it now."

stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid bikers.

and yes, go-pros are awesome... but facebook is better - most people don't realize that information they write is public - and in a surprising percentage of the time; the parties will confess to all their sins there, after the accident.

I drive the 405 every day in LA. The hype from these videos has changed people on the road, but not all in a positive way. Bikers were noticeably less aggressive on the road. However, I have noticed that more people in cars have been more aggressive towards the bikes.

It now appears, there might have been two off-duty NYC police officers in this group of bikers and people are asking why they didn't step up to the situation.

There has to be more witnesses than just the people in the SUV and the bikers. Hopefully, they will come forward with what happened after the first biker was hit when he slowed in front of the SUV. Regardless, the bikers chasing the SUV and beating the driver was totally wrong.

I had my daughter in my 2 one time on a crotch rocket in the car pool lane. He was trying to get over into traffic. I went left and passed him. Apparently this pissed him off. Funny, they can split lanes and if a car holds them up they get mad. I usually move to the left to let them by if I see them. Well, anyways, he decides to speed up and brake check me. Really I'm in a ****ing H2. Then he proceeds to pull right and try and kick at my door. Drifted right a tad. Then he decides to tailgate me. All the while my kid was in the car. So, I returned the favor and gave him a tap of the brakes. Not too hard otherwise he would have caught nothing but my spare tire. Just stupid on his part. I will win. This was something that should not have escalated to what it did. ****er got lucky. Had my kid not been in the car, I would have pulled him off of his bike.
The mentality of most of these guys is they think they own the road and can do what they want. And don't care about anyone. I've seen them going down the freeway here in So Cal doing at least 90 on one wheel. Know a lot if guys that ride. These other guys just give them a bad name. I see so many of these guys laying on the side of the freeway. Saw one yesterday that looked like he was pretty bad off.

If this happened to me and I was with my family it would have been flight. There's no way 1 man was talking on a whole "gang" "club" or whatever you want to call it. Sure I feel bad that someone would get hurt, but if you corner me I'm going to take my "gross tonnage" and run you over with it. As my dad told me for years before I got my license... you are going to be in control of 3 ton lethal weapon

...and there it is. I had a harley rider brake check me (to this day, I have no idea what set him off) - I was in my full size, lifted, diesel pickup. I hit the gas pedal, he got out of my way. I figured that there'd be one less story if there was "thump thump." Keep in mind this was during my contractor days - my brother was with me, he wanted to get out and pound the guy (really, for simply brake checking?)

In the end, I'm glad the lack of thinking on my part didn't kill the biker... no matter how wrong he was.

My point is, I've been on both sides of this situation - so I'll I'm left with is but for the grace of God, there go I.

I don't know what happened prior to suv getting stopped on the highway, but i bet everyone where at fault. The biker in the group are arrogant and have no respect to any road lows, and people on the cars need to realize that in the crash only the biker will get hurt and need to give them a brake. It comes down to that everyone need to respect each other...
But when a gang of bickers stop you on the middle of the highway... I'm sorry, but I'm not coming out of the SUV and try to civil talk them out off kicking my ass. Braking a low on the bickers side to the point of stopping on the highway i would take it as a full on thread (nothing good would come out of it)... I would do a same thing, i would just step on it and get out. I'll plea it as a self defense... But right after that, I would've call 911 and drive to the nearest police station. And if other one would get in front of me, i would've run them over again. At that point it is my life vs some gang bikers and I would protect myself at any means, even if i will have to kill a few gang members in the process, so be it. You don't want to get hurt, stay-da-****-out-of-my-way.
