Schwartty's will be heavier and they have a lip that comes out to the side that will help you pivot around trees, etc. The OEM's are very good, many many people run them, if you can find them, OEM's have the capability for removable steps, which none of the other aftermarket ones do (swarttzty, rock road, ridge demon, etc)

towards the bottom you'll find a photo of the gap with OEM rockers

Thats not a bad gap at all!

It cost me about $300 in material's to build my own sliders plus the cost of getting a shop to bed the tube, then the brackets from Meyhem Metal works then the final finish....

Not a bad deal at all once you start adding the costs of doing it yourself (when its the next cheapest option)

I was going to spend 400$ on steel square tubing to make my own, but I could buy these already made for the same price. Hopefully these hold up well.

These hardly ever come up anymore, particularly under $400. They are a steal and no one has ever complained about these that I can remember.

The 1" gap comes up to be useful actually! When my truck landed hardly on a rock the sliders (oem) got bent at the brackets, if I didnt have that 1" the body wouldve sure been damaged

I wonder how hard it would be to reinforce the oem, I hope they're up to par when I need them.

My truck hit a road block 20" high at 25mph, flew in the air and landed on the slider. The tubing was unscathed, the brackets are what gave!

Sounds good, i'll probably add some 3/16" flat bar to some parts and try to extend the mounts out another inch or two, from what i've read the main difference is that they protect the pinch weld, and they hug the plastic (which I don't have on my truck) so i'll see how everything mocks up.

RidgeDemon's are awesome but are no longer made. I have had OEM and they were very good. The Rocky Road are very good but their customer service has been very poor at times. Have not seen Schwarzty's but I am sure they are good also.

I think this is the same guy selling them, but now $250. Wonder if it would ship Greyhound for less?

While they're new....you should build a jig off them, so you can make more. The GM rails are the best IMO. They are plenty strong and allow you to support the truck with jackstands so you have full access to the bottom of the vehicle... (for SAS and SOA mods).
