Hey mate I'm from Australia and am looking to put a LS2 in my 09 h3 which still has the factory 3.7 in it. The Ls2, harness ( which I will have modified to suit) and computer I'm using is one from our Holden commodore, which Gm imports to the usa as a Pontiac I believe. I will use the factory 4L60e auto transmission. I have sources the engine mounts from current performance which I believe is what you also used?
I guess my question is what advice could you give now yours is up and running etc. Also did what torque convertor did you use ?

What year LS2 were you going to use? The 24x or 58x reluctor wheel variety. My 2006 Pontiac GTO (Holden VZ Monaro) runs a 24x reluctor LS2 engine controlled by the E40 ECM. The 2008+ H3 runs an E67 and a 58x reluctor wheel for the Alpha.

The VE Cars (exported to the US as the G8 were L76 and LS3 powered and they were all Gen IV, 58x reluctor wheels but ran the E38 ECM)

I would think to integrate a newer 58x engine and E67 controller would be an easier swap than trying to make a LS1 or E40 interface with the H3 electronics. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the H3 electronics in detail, which is why I am reading these threads for insight.

I used the stock stall speed from the envoy but the torque converter was beefed up a bit. It really is plug and play for the most part until you get to the wires that the need to be cut and resoldered in wit the new bcm plug.

I believe 08 h3s even 5cyl and up will be plug and play with the bcm but 06 for sure and 07 pretty sure will need BCM plug modification. That will be the toughest part. As for the reluctor I have heard it go both ways. Some people say you have to use a 58x some say you can make a 24x work but it's tougher to do so. Just depends on who's doing your harness.

ok its getting hot now, I need A/C We had a 100+ degree day a few weeks ago and all this week its upper 90s. I went to an a/c shop and they can custom make me lines. They want the old envoy lines and the old H3 lines so they can cut the ends off of them and reuse them. Problem is I let the A/C lines go with the truck when they picked it up to scrap it. :gaah:

So now I need to either buy new lines to cut up (dont wanna do that) or do I just get H3 alpha lines and swap out the envoy compressor for an H3 alpha a/c compressor. I had H3 alpha lines and they didnt work with the envoy.

Or is there a place I can just get the ends? I may also check to see if the ends of the 5 cyl a/c compressor will fit into the envoy compressor. that would be nice...I need A/C soon though, its HOT!

I happen to have some Alpha lines some Ahole tried to install and then sent them back with no part numbers or box[emoji12]

Damn it' sorry Zach lol at this point I may rebuy the lines and a compressor from an alpha the envoy is a tad different. I may need the bracket then too... And serp. Belt **** it adds up!

It still may be cheaper to get envoy lines and cut em up. Are the envoy compressor and alpha compressor part #s different? I would assume so

Yesterday I had the day off installed a new a/c compressor and ran factory alpha lines...I finally have a/c!!!! I filled it with the DIY stuff for now but I will go get it professionally vacuumed out and put new stuff in soon.

The hold up was figuring out the best way to do it. Orignally i got alpha lines and realized they didn't work. could get custom lines made but it would be a pita if I needed new lines and I was getting quoted high prices, I believe the hummer tax more or less, not the fact that the lines were pricey to make. So I spoke to Zach and sure enough he had an extra a/c compressor because the alpha and H2 share the same one. Bought it off him and got the new bracket for the compressor and lines and done! It's so nice to have a/c living in the desert when it's 100 degrees out with black on black...NOT FUN

I now have a new appreciation for a/c

Glad that configuration worked, didn't know if it would or not. Nice to have a/c isn't it?

when I went to the Overland Rally, I was being a bit smug while I was wheeling in complete comfort and watching the Jeep and Toyota guys sweating their hairy knuckles off in 106 degree weather. They didn't seem to think it was funny when I asked if they had any better DVDs for me to watch while I was waiting and watching them sweat.... pretty rude people, if you ask me ;) no sense of humor at all because they kept giving me rather blunt advice.

It worked, the a/c compressor belt didn't work it was too short I then spoke to Kyle and took his a/c belt and it was the right length. Went to orielly bought an avalanche one and it worked. serpentine belt stayed on, didn't measure to see if it's the same length but threw it in my trail bin for a spare. Will check length to make sure it's actually useful to me as a spare lol

And yes, a/c is nice! I know how those guys felt driving to the rubicon....95 degrees drove 4-6 hours in that crap but the rubicon itself made up for it

Confused here. You said originally the alpha lines didn't work, but you ended up with factory lines? And it's not clear that you pulled a vacuum before filling with the diy cans of freon.

BTW, Walmart has the cans of 134 locally here less than $7 each. Takes 2 cans. Half the price of the parts store.

Sorry I originally started with the compressor that was on the 5.3 which was from an envoy, assuming all 5.3s have the same compressor but they do not...I found that out after getting factory alpha lines. So Zach had an extra compressor for his H2 which happened to have the same part number as an alpha so I bought that off of him along with ordering an ac compressor bracket for an alpha along with the a/c belt. So after swapping compressors the alpha lines do work just not with an envoy compressor. As for filling it I did not vacuum it. I had them sealed shut. I just filled it up for now but do plan on getting it professionally done soon

Chris, In your opinion; do you think the 6L80e from adventure's thread would fit on your swapped 3 just as it would on a stock alpha?

If I can save up enough by December, thinking combining these two mods would save me some downtime. :)

yes it should work you would just need to work it out with the tuning.

You an 09 H3 so swapping to a V8 would be less problematic and easier then doing it from an 06-07 to a v8 and trans swap

Thanks Chris. I was just talking to amrg, its time I go through this thread again and note down all the parts I'd need for the swap.

Cheers!

If you need anymore info lmk but yours should be much closer to plug and play because they electronics are not different like the 06-07 guys going to run 08+ stuff
