No transmission Jack, I'm in a driveway and I'm lifted quite a bit I had help getting the motor over the core support but after that I was on my own.

A DD would make it easier but that's why I'm trying to keep moving. Rental car by the month as of now. Gonna make a decision soon probably by Monday or Tuesday.

Let's get a reality check here. You've got your truck at a friend's house who shut down his business location and is trying to survive working out of his home. You've taken advantage of his largess and gotten your money's worth. Thank him for what he's done for you and move out and move on. When I had projects like this years ago I wanted to work in my parents driveway. It was THEIR house and THEIR call what goes on there. If your parents are amenable then bring all your stuff back and set it out in their driveway. Maybe the HOA won't raise a fuss. I know someone in mine does after my stuff lays out too long. Expecting so much of your friend who's trying to survive financially might be akin to have him telling you to stop going to school until the project is done. So man up and quit acting like a kid!

Yeah! Chris is being a little whining bitch. Not. Have you not read this whole thread of his agreement with so called friend? Paid the guy and worked for him to finish other jobs before Chris' truck. At the very least, maybe Chris deserves a paycheck for working for the guy who has pretty much done nothing for him other than a place to store both vehicles.

Mr_Rich......well......I guess I won't be a dick and hijack chris' s thread by telling you what you should do. I hate when ass hats hijack threads with worthless comments. Damn, I did it too. Sorry chris. Keep your head up and keep working hard. You know who is behind you. Get that V8 purring and keep on trucking

One thing I've come to realize is that no one cares about our trucks as much as we, the owners, do. It's just not that important to other people. Friends or not. You've been at the forefront of so much progress for these vehicles. Don't let this get to you. I know there's hurdles along the way, but they only help you appreciate your progress that much more. I have no doubt you can pull this off. This setback sucks but it will work out in the end. You gotta do what's best for you and your rig.

I've read it all and I stand by my comments. I've tried to advise where I could so he didn't get in deeper sh!t than he already is. I'm twice as old as most of you and I've accomplished my share of projects. I admire the he!! out of the craftsmanship that I see with Caseys, CJ's, and MaxPF's projects.
I call 'em like I see 'em.

As far as storing vehicles is concerned; look at what storage costs...he's got his moneys worth and more. That's why I said to pack up and move on.

Hopefully i'll have a 4bt in mine one day like CaseyS after the I5 takes a dump but thatll be after i get a little more experienced in diesel tech.

Chris after reading your post I then say Mr Rich's comments and It pissed me off . I just want to say everything I was going to say , your friends have said already . Ok Mr Rich let's say Chris owes him for storage , how much does that guy owe Chris for his hourly labor for helping him save his business . By Chris helping him for free it only upped his friends profit on the jobs he did and put food on his table . As far as just calling it as you see it , well I'm sure Ray Charles has used that line too.

WOW, you must have a ****ty eye doctor or be older than dirt if you cant see and admire the work Chris has accomplished on his own, in his driveway.... the work he has done is just as admirable as the others in my opinion.. are you jealous of the work Chris has done and thats why you are being negative with the comments you have posted? I'm very interested to know..

he didn't pay him to store the vehicle, though. he paid him to work on them. Maybe that's the reason this guy's business is failing.

I was doing engine swaps before most of you were born; I'm fully aware of the intense labor involved. A lot of swaps that get started don't get completed. I documented my last two swaps on 67-72chevytrucks.com and LS2.com. I had to deal with the same comments on my swaps, but they got done and I've got over 25k and 30K miles on both of them. I've made my share of mistakes in the past and what I perceive as haphazard work I've commented on. By the same token I've also mentioned I've seen some very talented and skillful work completed by some of the posters here. I close with the comment that children resort to name-calling and leave at that.

Even if that is the case, words of encouragement and insight from an "Elder" would be much more appreciated and helpful than your negative predictions and comments. I wouldn't underestimate chris.

I'll leave this as my last comment on this matter, Down deep I know my buddy is a good guy, his intentions are good and we have spent many hours under his vehicles and mine lending a helping hand but this was bigger and needed to be handled different and sometimes things don't always work out the way they do. He said he would help me and I said I would pay him. Now I am not going to be the one to sit there and expect him to drop the world for me, that's not realistic BUT when I am told things and they are not followed through it is not right, when I offered to bring another buddy when he was busy I was told not to and wasted hours and hours of my day, that's not right. I was told I would become a priority after the other cars were taken care of and put plenty of hours working on other things to help him. Getting help costs money and I have been free of charge for MANY hours, including an engine swap on a ranger, helping on a sound system, derusting framerails, painting them, the list goes on. On the topic of craftsmanship and getting things done, do I produce NASA aircraft tig welded beauty? NO without a doubt I do not, but things go deeper then looks, it's all about what works and I can guarantee that my h3 has been put through more hell then any other h3 around in many different settings, on and off road. Right after finishing my SAS I drove it hundreds of miles to vegas and back because it's a vehicle that is meant for multiple uses I have logged 9k miles on it since from August to the end of January before the motor failed without any major issue landing me on a tow truck and that includes driving out of state drives. So while the craftsmanship may be questioned so be it but I have a driving vehicle that can do whatever I need up until this point that was built in many stages from a driveway that was given permission to be worked on in that setting and never had an HOA issue. This came at me and I did something different, let me fall on my face, let me get pist, let things not work, let me fail it's a fact of life and I will get back up and continue to try. If all else fails I still have an entire I5 harness, PCM and everything I need to put another one in but with YouTube, Google, and the will to make it work I will hope that it does work out. I don't need the Mr. Rich stamp of approval, if I lived life trying to please everyone else then I could not be happy myself. Just trying to post a thread of a DIY v8 swap so people can see the problems and things needed to make it work.

On a lighter note I will be going there Tuesday and will get the last motor mount bolt in that still does not want to line up, I will call current performance on Monday and see if they had issues with this before after that the t case and my crossmember can be put back in. Wiring harness was completed by Jamie this weekend. He will be sending that out monday.

If it were me I would wait on the transfer case and drive line until your top end is buttoned up.

In the outside chance that anything doesnt clear up top and you need to shift things around it will be much easier. Same on the cross member. Just run up a bolt or two to keep things in line and shift the focus up top.

Have you verified the trans is in the same location as factory? If so you will be set on drive line.

Funny how you praise others here for their projects, but yet you have slammed Chris. Don't forget, Chris has done his SOA and SAS swap in his parents driveway by himself and they are well documented for others here.

Dave I really appreciate that! I will talk to my brother, we will probably still go out and maybe leave on Thursday vs Saturday so I can work on it Friday Saturday and Sunday.

You are really kind, and how could I give up an opportunity to drive an h1!
