The UN Small Arms Treaty is dead... for now: NRA Stops U.N Arms Trade treaty
I'm not sure how much the NRA actually influenced the decision. However, the left has their own spin on how this went down. No doubt, this was due to the massive backlash Obama received when he claimed support for the treaty. His campaign managers knew it would cost him votes, so he abandoned support at the last minute.
Regardless of how it happened, the outcome is a good one. Still, the treaty has merely been postponed indefinitely. It's not dead, and if Obama gets a second term and/or more liberals find their way into the Senate, it is sure to be revived.
