Looks like fun. Though a little hard on the gear. I'm sure at least some of it is close to being over stressed.
Out that far, no one cares as long as you aren't damaging anything (usually it's a "add no bolts" deal). I'd also be surprised if there were laws against swinging that didn't include a repelling/climbing ban.
Looks like they were using two swing ropes and some bigger 50kN 'biners. I'd be curious to see their pivot rigging. I would have no problem, logically, launching straight off the top of the arch onto that much gear; the mind game would mess with you though. :giggle:

If you watch the behind the scenes video, they did extensive testing with dummy bags filled with dirt/rocks, and other measuring, and had 5 or so anchor points on the rock. The guys setting it up are rock climbers also so they know what they do haha.

I'd have to think the Park Service would have something to say. They lost one of their prized arches a couple years ago, it just fell down. I don't think they'd really encourage these morons

People have been doing that off of bridges for years. They secure it to one side of the bridge, and jump off the other side. Not my cup of tea.

Besides the huge mind game of launching your self off a cliff and swinging from a giant rock... once you get past the common sense of the whole thing, i'd be down to give it a try. Although i'd prolly need a kick over the ledge.

If they had the right gear and somebody went before me, I would do it in a hot second... Looks awesome.. Talk about a rush... I think Hunner might be right though.. I think whoever thought that up might have been utilizing some hemp rope

did anyone watch the behind the scenes? apparently you free fall 130 ft before the rope catches swinging you around up another 100 feet or so! damn :horns:. talk about crazy!

did you see the guy just about fall off. damn.....
kind of hate seeing them pounding all those expansioin anchors in the sandstone like that. hopefully they are epoxying them over when they're done. if not those holes will eventually contribute to erosion.
