If there really is nothing wrong with it that is a crazy good deal. With free labor and low mileage used motor/ trans it cost about $9k to do a complete swap with all the little pieces and fluids added together.

The engine alone is worth 7K (thats what gm is selling them for)

I looked at this one last year before I bought mine. It's been up for sale for awhile. I just couldn't bring myself to buy one that was another project and deal with any possible quirks. Not saying theres anything wrong with it or problems at all, just wasnt what I wanted to risk lol

I say it could be the power steering fluid. The alpha has a small cooler where the I5 didnt and this being a 2007 was diff an I5.
The engine bay gets really hot with the V8 in it and the steering suffers so the cooler helps.

PS coolers also come on five cylinders. Not all of them but, I have seen several (including mine). I think it may have to do with where the truck was purchased from. Colder climates didn’t get them? That’s my best guess.

It could also be an Adv. Pak thing. My 5-cyl. is an AP so maybe that’s the connection.

My truck is a base with an M5. It has a PS cooler along with an engine block heater. Not a needed option on the Central Coast but I could use it up in the mountains at certain times. I was running a scanner on my truck for a short while to check things out. It runs at 180* just about all the time. It's probably my best vehicle in my stable.

Probably incomplete work!
I know Humvee had to spend an extra 10K on parts and repeated labour and that was after his V8 conversion was "done", mainly due to bad work done during the initial conversion.
Swapping a V8 is easy, doing it the right way isnt!
