Who had a weirder, more awkward day than than me today?

I went to the gas plant that I cover for a 7:30 AM meeting, but left for the office around 11 AM because my wheels were finally here. When I got to the office, there was a conference going on in the conference room directly across the hall from my cubicle. The voice sounds familiar - It's my ex-wife's step dad.

What. The. Hell.

And he's here all week.

So, I'm a floor down hiding in an unoccupied office. Just some back story - my hippie ex-wife and I filed for divorce in Dec of '12. It was finalized early in Feb of '13. She lied and said that I beat her so they skipped the 3 month waiting period. Fine by me, it's not true, but it got me out early. For the record, I tried to get out early because she used to kick me in the balls because she thought it was funny. Only I had witnesses and I wasn't lying. But, I'm a man and I can't be physically abused, so they ignored my request.

A few months later, I started dating my current wife. The ex finds out, "remembers" all the time I beat her up and how I was currently stalking her (I have her phone number blocked, facebook, everything. she keeps sending me sad emails about how she can't get ahold of me). My g/f (wife now) stop by the Krav Maga gym that my ex and I used to train at (which wasn't very smart, but it wasn't to be malicious and I made sure she wasn't there. I had gone there for 2 years and I had a few friends there, plus it was an interesting thing that I used to do and I wanted to show my g/f my old hobby). The ex wasn't there, so we said hi to some people and left. No big deal.

2 months later, a sheriff stops by my apartment. My ex is slapping me with a restraining order, which means I can't go to school to do my experiments, nothing. I have to hire a lawyer and go back to court several times to get rid of this thing. Stuff like this goes on your permanent record, which I can't have. My lawyer looks her claims, says it's obviously bullcrap, but has no spine and tells me to make a deal. Her lawyers look at her case, realize it's bullcrap, and try to make a deal. I wrote a long letter to the judge, explained what happened, and it got dismissed. I took my ex to Krav Maga for 2 years, bought her a gun and CHL, taught her how to use it. She's also 6 feet tall (I'm 5'8"). Can you see where I'm going? I'm the nicest guy in the world, seriously. I also paid for her to spend a semester abroad in the Middle east to learn arabic (and dropped out of grad school for her, worked while she went to school - twice, you get the picture).

Long story short - It's been a weird day. But at least I can put my 35"s on.

I bought the hummer partially as a big "F you" to the ex. Like I said, she's a huge hippie. My current wife loves it, she told me to keep it when I was thinking about selling it last year before I got my current (way better) job.

I hate to bring the drama, but you have to admit, it is a weird story. Divorce is a weird thing.

I would say that you had a weird awkward day. I'm afraid that so far today, I can't top yours. LOL! Just keep on truckin' and go out and enjoy your HUMMER with the new 35s!

Divorce is an unending annuity for the lawyers. Gym then I went to the range and shot pistols with Mike S., we went to the pub and drank some beer and watched football. Nice normal Sunday.

I'm feeling particularly motivated to go to the gym today and hit some punching bags ;)

I did drive my hummer up into the hills and punched the spare tire once after a particularly stressful court day...

Tell you what, it makes me appreciate my current wife that much more. she's a good girl, seriously.

I can only imagine how awkward divorce would be in general especially if y'all still live in the same area with some of the same friends. Well I am in Afghanistan working on F-16's and my wife is back home sick with food poisoning from Chinese take out.

Mine lives in SLC and her whole family lives in Houston. I thought I would never see them again.

So a guy is using my hiding spot, so I'm back in my office. the ex-step-father-in-law is standing 20 feet from my cube having a conversation. It's weird. At least I'm around a corner. eh, whatever.

Like I used to say . . . "Life is a bitch, until you divorce one."

Nothing like a starter marriage to help realign priorities.

Sorry for situation. Sounds like you have a great woman to be with so focus on that. Don't give the ex the satisfaction of getting to you.

that's true, plus no kids with the ex. I got lucky that way.

Last night my wife was helping me assemble my wheels in the living. I tried to get a picture of her jumping on the beadlock inserts but she ran away. yeah, I think I'll keep her.

Also, I walked past the stepdad in the hall just now. It was weird, but that's all that happened. He's a short indian guy, so everyone think I was married to an indian girl or something. it's kind of funny. she's a 6 foot tall redhead, and is as crazy as your typical redhead. oh well, what can you do but laugh about it, right?

CRAZY GIRLS are fun for a night or two. But you never want to marry one they just get crazy er as they get older. Take a good look at there mothers it will give you a heads up of what your girl friend / wife may turn in to. Just a thought.

boy I tell you what, if I was smart I would have listened to this about 7 years ago. Her mom is a neurotic mess.

glad we got a few other divorcees around her. i like joking around about it, but some people get kind of sensitive or something like they're going to hurt my feelings.
