LED Bulbs In My Instrument Panel.

I've been planning for some time now to replace my instrument gauge bulbs with a brighter LED. Most of them are 194 bulbs. I've replaced the voltmeter, oil pressure, water temp, and fuel. Nice and bright! The clock was next but the LED bulb is too long. 28mm. It was about 2mm too long. I have another I'm going to install later. That one is 20mm. Plenty short enough. I haven't replaced the speedo or CTIS bulb yet. My biggest problem is the RPM gauge. That has a small grain of wheat bulb that's built into the gauge face. I don't think I can replace that. Or... Can I? Reading around the forum, I haven't found anything about that yet.

Hmm... interesting....

This is a bit of a tangent, but still:

My truck "lives" outdoors. when it rains it gets wet. When it rains a LOT, i get a little bit of water inside the truck in various places, including, I think, the instrument panel. I haven't been able to figure out how water gets in there but every time I drive the truck after a serious rain, I get a bit of condensation on some of the gauges.

I read someone suggesting that it, for that reason, can be a good idea to stick with traditional light bulbs because the heat they produce helps drive out moisture.

Hmmm.... Interesting INDEED!
Now that you mention it.... There has been times my gauges get a bit foggy. This may be a problem. Well, I saved the old bulbs just in case.

I have the same problem in my 95 h1 as well. There doesnt seem to be a good seal where the bulb plugs into the gauge. I also get a lot of water in the truck when it rains. All the caulk joints between the steel roof and aluminum body are bad. I am currently waiting for warmer weather to start sealing up the rig. If you are getting small amounts of water your caulk joints could be starting to go.

I was playing around with the gauges this morning and noticed the LEDs were putting out some heat. About the same heat as the normal bulb. These are the high intensity LEDs.

I'll be picking up a few more LED lamps from Dave (BlueHummer). I tried a few eBay lamps for the Clock and CTIS gauge, but they are too long to fit correctly. Dave has the right ones that fit.
I'll take some pictures tonight and post them. Until then, here are the LED I got. Beware... The Clock and CTIS doesn't fit. These are too long.

I had the same problem. Took it to a sunroof guy and he found the sunroof drains were clogged. He cut them back and no more water anywhere.
