I didn't replace the bracket... 103k on mine, did the pulley at 86k

ok thanks...

The dealer is claiming the noise I'm hearing on the front of the motor is the serpentine belt and wanted to charge me $120 to replace it.....I declined that offer

I figure as long as I'm at it I'll do the belt, tensioner, and idler pulley....

Spring time I'm thinking water pump and 'stat..

I had the dealer change all belts for me for free! They had to change the power steering pump under warranty so I was like ummm y dnt u put those new belts in since ur already gna dissassemble everything? Techie smiled and said obviously u know mechanics (I should give credit for the info on this forum and all the contribution of forum members here :D )

$120 to change a belt out!? It takes 5 mins at most. I had noise coming from my engine in October and it turned out to be the water pump. I'm at 141K right now.

When I did the Water-pump and Fan Clutch, I also changed the Tensioner Pulley and Arm along with the Idler Pulley, then finished it all off with a new belt...I hate repeating a major repair and cut corners, now only to find out soon later I would be ahead of the game had I got it all done at once....The Old "Bird in the Hand" saying..

I agree with the concept in general, but the arm is a static, non-wear part. I would liken changing the arm to changing out the studs every time you rotate the tires. I've actually done it both ways: the first time I did the pulley and mount, second time I just did the pulley. It's a lot easier to change just the pulley and I don't think you're cutting corners by doing that, for this particular repair.

I think you misunderstood me....

But what I meant was, the Tensioner pulley assembly can be purchased as just the Pulley or The Pulley and Tensioner arm together..so that way you have a new tensioner spring arm along with the new pulley too..I can't imagine not replacing both a them at the same time, that would be like changing 4 of the five spark plugs because one plug looked better than the rest.....The Idler pulley on the other hand, which is on the right side above the A/C compressor only comes with a bolt when changing it...
