Hello all!

Like some of you guys know, I am passionate of Hummer and had previously a H3 Hummer since 2007 that I prepared for offroad and desert conditions. I do everything myself and that Hummer was amazing, with rear locker and 4,03:1 transfer case..

But I wanted to test the power of Alpha, so I trade my old Hummer for a 2008 Hummer H3 alpha with 130000 miles and not good serviced in his life....was ugly and very bad condition, but good price...well after months of refurbishing, mods and tune, the truck is amazing and like new about engine, transmission, frame painted, engine tuned, transmission refurbished hidraucally, fox shocks installed....but still needed the last part.. bushings, wheel bearing, ujoints, ball joints, upper control arms...you know, that kind of stuff...and of course, Outfitter design kits everywhere, steering, differential and in the alpha, is a good idea a set of tie rods..

Well all was planned to be done this January (parts are coming) but a Friend give me a call last weekend, to go with him and a friend with a Pentastar V6 Rubicon 4 door with 35 inch tyres, to test both vehicles in a super difficult trail (very inclinated and soft terrain with a lot of holes)
So I at first deny...but at the end accepted to do this ''torture test''...at the end I will change lot of parts anyways (taking care of half shaft and front differential of course)

Well here is the video: (Sorry for the bad quality, was upload from phone, attaching three videos together)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zULxiJ_qzHk

In resume, the Alpha follow the Jeep and did all the trail without problems (well except that bad noise) and the owner of the jeep was impressed because the engine in the alpha is like a demon

And here comes the QUESTIONS:

-That horrible popping noise it seems that comes from front end, but maybe from transfer case? Did you ever hear a noise like that doing the same type of offroad?
(at first I suspect it was the bolt from the center suppor differential hitting the protection plate, but I dont know)

-Can you check that the front suspension in that inclination is totally streched? and because of that cv axles and tie rods works in a extreme angle
I discover that when adjusting torsion bar, you cannot go so far, because maybe on pavement is good but in offroad inclinations this kind of strech happens in the front..

LESSONS LEARNED:

-I will keep the 2,64:1 transfer case ratio because the advantage in desert dunes (4,03:1 is too low, and high range abuse a lot the transmission in the dunes)
-I will install 4,56 ratio in the differentials
-I will install factory lockers in both front and rear differentials....in this trail, both locker and soft throttle would be enough to pass...not necessary that kind of throttle...I prefer a more technical style, like the one in my previous h3

How is going the DANA50 front axle conversion for h3 that Outfitter design was development??

Thanks to all!

Yeah go for 4.56 gearing and downgrade to the 2.6:1 tcase. From my experience in the dunes with roughly 50 trips I used 4LO once and that was in a very very soft bit off sand and wanted to keep my trans happy. But 4Hi wld have been just fine esp with 35" AT tires aired down to 10 psi (which are key)
The binding noise you are hearing could be the cvs at full drop. Have it on a lift with all tires in the air and put it in drive, check whats wrong and let us know...
