Woah... this is a game changer. Potentially Duramax for $10,000 (minus your own labor).
Don't forget cost of engine & trans plus what ever is needed to adapt the T-case.
Regardless, this would rock for guys like me who want to tow a trailer and are making do with the 2's capabilities as-is.
There's been a fresh powder coated frame on Flea Bay for awhile that would be great to prep for a project like this---minimize your downtime to just swapping the body over. In addition to the obvious gain of having a diesel, it would also let me get the frame, engine bay and suspension cleaned up again. I hate the way these frames look after driving for awhile.

Yeah, I've found Teaka tends to charge twice as much for their stuff as what it should really go for. But then I've also discovered that an incredible amount of HUMMER owners have been willing to pay twice as much for their stuff as they should.

If I were to go the route one day I would deff get one built, after a quick Google search you can find some that or forsale with this conversion already done... but your looking at an 8+ year old rig for $40k and thats a tough pill to swallow!

I'm still struggling with why this kit costs 10k, it's not like they're getting you any of the hard parts or doing the tuning....

I like that chart, but there are some minor mistakes in it...

You have to question the cost of that kit. It's simply not complete and they want alot of money for it. That why I posted the other info yea that expensive but it's a complete kit and body lift kit to fit the trans. Doing these conversions is no easy task there are alot of thing to wrong that get really expensive really fast when you try to thing on the sly.

The front suspension on an H2 is the same as the 3/4 ton pickup which had a Duramax motor standard - in my experience (which is pretty substantial) with GM stuff, if they put it in the same chassis; it's mostly a bolt-together deal. Interfacing between the electronics isn't that big of a deal - I could name 2 different companies that would connect the duramax with the H2 for less than $1,000.

Thus, it SEEMS like a lot of money. It's not like putting a VVT CTS motor in a Fiat - the moron who's doing that should have his head examined. (google SuperBuickGuy and CTS Fiat)

This, specifically, is the part I don't understand. How do you get an H2 BCM (?) to talk to the PCM / TCM from a Duramax / Allison?

I know Predator does nice stuff. When they are done you cannot tell the difference when you're sitting in the truck (until you start it) - the same dash, same shifter, same electronic t-case buttons (despite the truck now being 4wd instead of AWD).

Hummer H2 Duramax Conversion DIY Kits

Being a Hummer H2 lover for the last 10 years, I like many have been looking into converting my H2 Hummer to a Duramax / Allison driveline. I saw all the videos and read all the posts but couldn't get over the fact that you had to spend money upfront for a un-certain timeline and wasn't sure exactly what your Donor truck parts were actually coming from or their condition. I also looked for a DIY Duramax conversion kit (which has brought me to this very post many times over the years) and again, met with too many unknowns. Best I found was a lot of money up front and a promise of full disclosure throughout the process. (but don’t ask too many ?’s upfront) It was like spending $10K for a black mystery box. Of course, you’re told how simple things are but you won't know for sure until you’re heavily invested. So, with all my frustration, I found a “conversion consultant” for hire that I could pay throughout the process and avoid the mistakes others have made attempting the H2 Duramax conversion on their own. (did you see one recently that had 6” added to the height of the hood in order for the Duramax to in the H2?)

Here I am 7 months later and feel I could write a book (kidding) on my experience. Wow, what a project and I’ve learned a ton! First off- Don’t assume that if you’re getting advice from someone who has done Duramax Hummer conversions that they know the BEST practices and methods for a successful outcome. Like everyone before, they were once a virgin and were confronted with choices. Did they make the right choices? My “Professional” did not in many cases. The Duramax conversion is full of unknowns and the choices made at the beginning of your adventure will have serious repercussions down the road, and since these aren’t model trucks, you can pay dearly for bad choices or misinformation. Secondly, ignorance is bliss! Had I known it all upfront, I wouldn't have had the courage to try.

All in all, my experience was a good one and having owned different H2’s of the last 10 years, I can now say I KNOW HUMMER H2’s, where 6 months ago, I only thought I knew them. But one thing that I’ve always known is The HUMMER H2 is the most underrated, undervalued and underappreciated vehicle on the road. Good for us H2 lovers, let’s keep it OUR secrete.

Anyhow, I hadn’t expected to type this much, but realized there is a lot to say on the subject. I merely wanted to get some opinions on what you are willing to pay for a conversion to Duramax and what you would expect from a kit. All the H2’s are getting up to the high-end in mileage and time for many to have serious and expensive driveline issues. Why replace parts, when you can transplant something 10x betting than what you had before. Increased HP, nearly double the torque all while getting nearly double the fuel economy! Doesn’t seem logical.

I think you're right about it being undervalued. I'd like to see a build thread. I have day dreams about a duramax powered H1 or H2 and one of them is on my list for sure.

Welcome to the forum!

Man I bet you would know your rig inside out and backwards after doing that conversion!!

Before moving to the island I live on now I wanted to pick up an H2 and do the conversion.... now its not pactical on is island (my T is almost too big) with the short trip, narrow roads, and not a whole lot of wheelin' it seems.

You should post up pic's of your rig!!!

I'm faced with an option to do a 24V Cummins conversion, way better than Duramax. But you don't see those becuase the engine is too long and the conversion can get really complicated.
I'd be way more willing to do the swap if my truck didn't have 78K miles and running great. I'd hate to shut it down for unknown number of months for an unknown outcome.
Curious how any Cummins swaps are working out.....

I don't see much of an option between the two, Cummins makes no sense in the H2 platform. The beauty of a Duramax is the ability to mate all the control modules necessary for full functionality on the GMT 800 platform. With the Duramax, the H2 can perform as GM would have intended, had they had the insight to offer the upgrade. Who knows, maybe GM wouldn't have been pressured to drop the line if the H2 was performing at 18+ MPG.
