Hummer bed

So last weekend I switched out my sons crib for a race car bed and that got me thinking... When he starts to out grow his little race car bed I want to get him a Hummer bed. I looked online and the only one I found looked like hell. So my question is has anyone built one or thought of this before? My idea so far is to model it after a H3t with him sleeping in the bed and building a 2 door cab up front to play in with the hood as a built in toy box. Any input would help thanks.

Thats a great idea! I thought about an H1 Open top bed when I was little, and getting quoted back then for $500 wasnt bad, but we had to wait for me to grow out of my bed. Unfortunetaly we havent done it yet. I would really like to see what you could come up with though!

I've been looking for a HUMMER bed for my daughter for awhile--you're right, the ones that are out there look like ass. I imagine it would be hard to make a 3T bed look like an actual 3T. Probably the best HUMMER for the project would be a 4 door H1 truck.
I've seen one or two on Craigslist that were home made, and they looked home made.

Thats not bad I was thinking of using a set of quad rims/tires and also wanted to make it more "life like" with the fenders offset. I like the tv set up I didn't think of that before

Ill keep everyone updated on it, it's still in planning and it'll be about a year before he's ready for a bigger bed im just trying to get ideas to draw up some plans

As the person that usually ends up making the beds (you've heard the saying never do too good of a job on something you don't like to do? well I never learned that), my first thought was that it would be hard to make that bed.

OTOH, they say, "We Love Cu$tom Order$!!!" Our Motto is "IF YOU CAN DREAM IT WE CAN BUILD IT". (I added the “$”)

So if you come up with your own design, they might built it for enough $$$. I'd make the sides fold down or the doors open up so you could make the bed easier.

How cool is that! I'm more than happy to oblige. Probably overkill, but I wanted to include pics from a lot of different angles for you. Let me know if you need any other angles. I'm dying to see how your project turns out. Please let us know.

Big unit thanks a lot for all the great pics! Im going to have my wife do some photo shop work on the design this week and hopefully be able to pass it on to one of the architects I work with to draw me up some plans. It may take awhile to build it but I don't want to half ass any of it lol once it's done I'm sure duplicating it woulnt be to hard and I would be more than happy to build them for anyone who has an interest in one!

Hahaha Hans I don't think their is an age cut off for wanting some type of car bed! And like I told big unit after I get this perfected and have a good set of plans the following should be easier to build. (and possibly be able to scale up for larger beds )

Depends on the girl, my wife's the one who pushed me to get this started :giggle:
but on a serious note I started scaling out last night and I need to figure out a way to make it all fit my sons bedroom isn't the biggest and im thinking this is going to be about 9-10 feet long I may have to sacrifice the two front doors opening for a play part
