Just confirming that the stock rims are hub centric? Looking at build a offroad camper with matching rims and wondering I'm going to need custom adapters

Hub-centric? More like "BS-centric". I hear people talking about hub-centric adapter rings, and wheels, and such. I've jacked around quite a bit with different wheel combinations, and I see absolutely no reason for anything "centric" on an H3 hub. The lugnuts themselves center the wheel on the hub. I suppose if you are going to purchase new wheels, you might as well get hub-centric versions....but I would not loose any sleep, if you chose not to. Just buy some some wheels with a 4" center-bore and you'll be good to go.

Ur probably right...I just remember when buying my spacers that he said the H3 is hub centric and the bore was 100.3. I am not even sure how tough it is to find a rim with that exact size bore. Many guys run aftermarket rims without issue on the H3. If you were to get spacers though I would aim to be exact though...

Most new vehicles made over last few years have factory hub-centric wheels. They are simply more accurately centered on the axle.

A factory hubcentric wheel that rests the vehicle weght on the axle itself through the center hole, rather than supporting that weigh by means of lateral forces against the lug nuts alone, is a much stronger design.

That being said, tons of folks have wheeled offroad with lug-centric wheels with no problems for many years.

If wheel spacers are entered into the equation on an off-road vehcile, hub centrics are a must for adequate strength and to keep the three pieces (axle hub, spacer, wheel) in accurate alignment.

Another advange of Hubcentric wheels is they are usually able to be balanced more accurately when using a center cone balancer

usually aftermarket hubcentric wheels are bored out a little bigger than they need to be, and you get a little plastic insert that is custom to your vehicle application. insert the ring, and then bolt on the rim and it will locate on the plastic bushing, then the bolts take the strain after they are tightened so the plastic bushing doesnt have to.

These are just going on a trailer axle. I figure if i need any additional clearence ill get hub centric ones since its not much of a difference in price.

It's for his camper trailer - he wants matchy-matchy....:giggle:

I can't wait to see it :) I think it's a great idea!

From the factory, yes they are hub centric, but you can run the factory rims lugcentric. Frankly, as long as the hub clears the hole in the rim, slap whatever wheel you want on. (Only exeception is if you don't have tapered lug nuts). I have my H3 rims on my Silverado at the moment running as lug centric with no issue at all.
