I've been helping out a local doctor with IT stuff for about ten or twelve years (scary thought, I know). We've been using Mailstreet for their Exchange functions for email and shared calendars and all has been well until a recent upgrade FUBARed everything.

They are looking for alternatives and frankly, I haven't looked at this stuff in years. I had considered Google Apps for them a while back but I'm not convinced that would be what they need.

Basic requirements:
~10 email accounts
Shared Public Folder calendars

They know and like Outlook and Exchange so it would be best to move them over to a similar service. It sounds like Mailstreet lost all of their emails and the calendars are screwed up so there might not even be much to migrate. Heck, I'd like to find them a local guy to help them with all of this or maybe even a remote person (all of the PCs have logmein installed). If this is something you deal with and are interested in picking up a small project please let me know.

Any recommendations on hosted Exchange or alternatives?

I don't do Windows, so i can't help you there. If they are willing to migrate to an OS that is actually secure, then we can talk ;)

Edit:Yikes, sounds like a pretty bad mistake was made by their current exchange hosting provider

I can't offer much advice unfortunately, but I know there are lots and lots of good hosted exchange providers.

Best of luck to you

I personally admin two domains using Google Apps with great success. One of the domains was hit by the "bug" that wiped out their entire setup but was restored by Google within a day. The learning curve may be rough though if you are utilizing the entire Exchange package (email, calendar, messaging).
