I just wanted to post a big thank you to all who pitched in to help our friend and fellow HUMMER owner Ron46 who was greatly affected by "superstorm" Sandy. My personal efforts to get him some basic supplies quickly turned into a great showing of how H4O differs from other offroad forums. The number of members willing to toss in a few bucks to help him out was amazing! We were able to get him the parts he needed to get his generator hooked up to his house directly and I am happy to report this allowed him to finally turn his heat back on as of yesterday-right as the snow was begining to fall from an early season nor'easter. I also was able to present to him and and his family a $500 dollar money order from H4O to get whatever items they may need to help themselves and maybe a few neighbors get through the continuing effects from the storm. I am so proud that this group of "internet friends" most of whom have never even met in person were willing to help him out in such a great way. It has been a tough time for all who were affected and the clean up efforts are likley to go on for quite some time, but we can all feel good that we personally helped a friend who was in need. Ron still doesnt have access to the internet at this point but has expressed to me his many thanks to everyone here for all the help and well wishes from his HUMMER family. I also want to add that he and his family never asked us for this help, they are probably too proud to do so-but he is a great guy and I couldnt think of anyone who deserves it more.
