WTS H3T Tailgate Edge Molding/ Protector

The original 2009 style tailgate edge protector snapped on and didn't retain the part on the tailgate. Bad design because the plastic clip broke off easily. The 2010 part had M6 screws with a claw type retainer that the M6 fastener screwed into. I improved on the mounting by making backing plates and M6 nutserts that hold the molding tightly to the edge of the tailgate. The mounting plates can be held in place using double-sided tape and can be installed through the access holes in the edge of the tailgate. This mounting is very secure and worked very well for me for all the years I used my truck. If you have a beat up piece this one is in good condition and will mount easily. Check GM prices on the new part. Selling this one for $80 plus shipping.

This was the newer design I referred to. I made the backing plates like the ones shown above and used SS fender washers and buttonhead SS M6 screws to hold it down.

There are plenty of access holes to install the backing plates like shown above. There are oval holes on the edge and I centered the backing plates in the oval and it lined up perfectly with the screw holes in the edge molding.
